Ms. Sherri Tomlin Adcock, age 64 of Summerville, GA passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026 at a local healthcare facility.

Ms. Adcock was born November 26, 1961 in Austelle, GA to the late Ralph and Hattie Woodall Tomlin. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed watching horror movies and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny and Jeffery Tomlin.

Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Katelynn) Hankins and Benjamin (Stephanie) Hankins; brothers, Ralph (Mitzi) Tomlin and David (Jane) Tomlin; grandchildren, Blaze, Kruze, Aden, and Aubrey Hankins; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ms. Adcock will take place at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 1 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lyerly Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the service hour at the funeral home.

Mrs. Louise “Pete” Sprayberry, age 96, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, August 29, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Sprayberry was born November 27, 1929, in Guntersville, AL, daughter of the late Glen Randolph Cagle and Gracie Lee Mann Cagle. She was a member of the West Berryton Faith Temple, and prior to her retirement, owned and operated Sprayberry Kennels.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Martin Sprayberry; daughter, Brenda Hatfield; sisters, Phyllis Swords and Hazel Lee Hartline; brothers, Randy Graham Cagle who was killed in action during the Vietnam War, and Jimmy Wayne Cagle.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Alisa (Mike) Mosley and Rusty (Traci) Williams; great-grandchildren, Summer Williams, Colton Floyd, Dakota Williams, and Jamison Griffin; great-great-grandchildren, Hudson Williams, Chevelle Griffin, Nova Randles, and Skyler Griffin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 5, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Ridgeway Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Hughes, Blaze Hughes, Scott Sprayberry, Stephen Sprayberry.

Mrs. Sprayberry will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Saturday.

Mr. Lonnie Rogers, age 75, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Advent Health Redmond.

Mr. Rogers was born October 14, 1950, in Jeanerette, LA, son of the late Willis James Rogers, Sr. and Emerite Pichoff Rogers. He was a member of Sonrise Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Schneider Trucking. He was also retired from the Chattooga County School System where he worked as a bus driver.

Lonnie was a man of strong Christian faith who loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing that love with everyone around him. He had a kind and loving heart and always found joy in the simple things in life. One of his favorite ways to spend his time was fishing, but what he cherished most was being surrounded by the people he loved.

Lonnie especially treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He loved making memories with them, laughing with them, and simply enjoying having them close. His family meant the world to him, and his love for them could be seen in everything he did.

Lonnie leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, family, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed, but his love and the memories he created with his family will live on in their hearts forever.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jim Rogers and Bill Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Rogers; daughters, Lesa (Carl) Davenport, Kristian (Ray) Godfrey, Candi (Germaine) Cook, and Leslie (Michael) Cook-Bevels; brother, Danny (Norma) Rogers; sisters-in-law, Brenda Rogers and Peggy Rogers; grandchildren, Christopher (Lindsay) Godfrey, Devin Davenport, Katie (Amber) Bentley, Zane Armond, Zoey (Garrett) Cook, Ty Godfrey, Zander (Tabitha) Cook, Zayden Cook, Braxson Cook-Bevels, Brynlee Cook-Bevels, and Briley Cook-Bevels; and great-grandchildren, Heaven Godfrey, Zaleigh Nickons, Malasia Tice, Remi Godfrey, Magnolia Heaps, and Piper Godfrey.

Mrs. Gladys Carter Resse age 89 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Reese was born September 3, 1936, in Summerville, GA to the late George and Emma Key Carter. She was a member at Trion Heights Baptist Church and the Women’s Sunday School Class. She worked at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the 1980’s where she served as volunteer coordinator.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy" Reese, Jr; siblings, Elizabeth Powell, Jessie Purcell, Faye McWhorter, Billy Carter, and James Carter; and son-in-law, Terry L. Johnson.

Survivors include her children, James “David” Reese, III and Deborah Johnson; brother, Gene Carter; grandchildren, Terry L. Johnson, Jr. and Tera Gunderman; great-grandchildren, Kayla Cotton, Krista Johnson, and Haley Olles; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Graveside and interment services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Reese will take place at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 23, 2026, at AMI Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating. Pallbearers will be David Reese, Lee Johnson, Kayson Koonce, Quinton Watson, Kelly Hamilton, and Bill Bryant.

Mrs. Elizabeth “Ann” Brown, age 85, of Trion, GA, died Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Pruitt Health – LaFayette.

Mrs. Brown was born August 3, 1941, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Dewey Mitchell and Susie Rodgers Mitchell. She was a member of Chelsea Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed in the Card Room at Mount Vernon Mills where she was also a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mrs. Brown enjoyed reading and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy David Brown; brothers, D.C. Mitchell, Jr., Glenn Mitchell; sisters, Orleane Miller, Betty Powell; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Campbell Brown.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy Scott Brown; daughter, Michelle Reynolds; brothers, Larry (Linda) Mitchell, Malcolm (Carol) Mitchell; grandchildren, Jessica Brown Grimes, Mashell (Travis) Brown, Dustin Reynolds, and Josh Reynolds; several great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Jean Mitchell.

Mrs. Mary Lou Hegwood, age 86, of Cloudland, GA, died Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mrs. Hegwood was born June 18, 1940, in Cloudland, daughter of the late Gordon Nathaniel Key and Helen Holbrook Key.

Known to her grandchildren as “Granny Bird,” she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She also loved spending time with friends and acquaintances that she got to know and love while working with Jane at the beauty shop. She enjoyed her Tuesday trips to Trade Day with Fran and she loved sitting on her back porch with Yogi watching the cows.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Hegwood, Sr.; a son, Barry Hegwood; sister, Bonnie Harris, a brother, Phil Key; son-in-law, Lamar Canada; and nephews, Jamie Harris and Josh Key.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William Ross “Yogi” and Shanne Hegwood; daughter, Jane Hegwood Canada; grandchildren, Justin (Brook) Canada, Patrick (Lacey) Canada, Billy (Grace) Hegwood, Amy Ferguson, Kevin (Sherida) Canada, Nathan (Halle) Hegwood, and Natalie (David) Fletcher; great-grandchildren, Carson Canada, Layla DeBoard, Hank Canada, Lily Canada, Khloe Canada, Kamryn Canada, Evan Fletcher, Callie Fletcher, Lyna Fletcher, Charlie Hegwood, Scarlette Hegwood, and Hazel Hegwood; and her life-long friend, Frances Hegwood.

On August 14th, 2026, Alice M. Black, a cherished mother, grandmother (Nanna), and sister, went home to be with Jesus at the age of 82.

Alice was born on October 31st, 1943, in Gaylesville AL. Throughout her 82 years on this Earth, she beautifully exemplified the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She looked well to the ways of her household, and the teaching of kindness was always on her tongue. Her children rise up and call her blessed.

Alice worked at Munich American Reinsurance for 47 years where she managed the microfilm department. Alice’s home was always open, and she welcomed and fed all. She attended Faith Baptist Church in Menlo, GA.

Her unwavering faith in Christ was the anchor of her life. She taught her family the power of prayer, the importance of scripture, and the beauty of unconditional love. Her love of Christ guided her steps every single day.

She is survived by her loving children, Alan and JoAnne Black, And Kimberly Brumit; her grandchildren, Taylor Fehr, Justice Fehr, Kenneth Black, Ashlee Stoker, Nicholas Black, Douglas Brumit, And Skylor Fehr and her great grandchildren, Sabastian, Isabella, Declan, and Salem. She was welcomed into Heaven by her Savior, her parents, Amos H. and Clarabell Mitchell, her brothers, Charles Mitchell and Gary Mitchell and her sisters, Isabell Zolnik, Jackie Mitchell, Bonnie Moesnner, and Shirley Meek.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Quinn officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Mrs. Gail Moseley, age 71, of Lyerly, GA, died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Moseley was born May 24, 1955, in Fort Payne, AL, daughter of the late John Howard Marshall and Mildred June Wade Marshall. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Mohawk Industries in Lyerly.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moseley was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Marshall and Frankie Marshall; and a sister, Debbie Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Moseley; son, Richard (Robin) Grimes; daughter, Jessica (Matt) Thornton; brother, Steve (Ginger) Marshall; grandchildren, Jerzie Mobbs, Ryder Mobbs, Evan Fletcher, Callie Fletcher, Luke Thornton, Clay Thornton, Kristian Mobbs, and Haley Studdard; and 4 great-grandchildren.
