Braxton Co Animal Shelter

Braxton Co Animal Shelter Hours: Monday-Friday 10-3
Please call 304-765-2200 to inquire about a dog. Located in Sutton, WV Our hours are Monday through Friday from 10am-3pm.

There is no charge to surrender a dog, but donations toward their care are appreciated. Adoptions fees are $149.00 for male dogs and $169.00 for female dogs. This fee includes spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, parvo/distemper vaccination, kennel cough vaccination, flea/tick treatment and deworming. We are sorry, but we do not have the proper ventilation or capacity to take cats. Our goal is

to help control the pet population and place dogs in loving, FOREVER homes. No dog will leave the shelter unfixed, so please do not ask to adopt an unspayed or un-neutered pet. We are very willing to work with reputable 501c3 rescues, so please don't hesitate to call 304-765-2200. Your credentials will be checked. Dogs on stray hold will be placed for adoption/rescue after their 5 day hold has ended. Please call the shelter for info on adoption and speak with our adoption/rescue coordinator Megan.

Blaire 🐕

She is a 1 year old, mixed breed, 56lbs. She was picked up on the interstate by animal control, adopted into a home with another dog and then abandoned in the home when her family moved. This is Blaire’s second time with us and she’s still a happy girl who holds no grudges. She’s a timid but playful girl. She comes off shy at first but also loves belly scratches, toys and gets the zoomies when she’s happy. Her funny characteristic is that if she has access to more than one treat she sticks them in her jaws like a squirrel and just packs them around, laying them down every once in a while. Her negative trait is that she climbs like a MONKEY! She climbs our wire kennels with no issue, really fast, so she’s currently in a covered room. She’s very dog social and kinda bottom of the bottom of the totem pole. She wanted to chase the cats though so no cats for Blaire. Walks well on a leash. If you would like to show Blaire a true forever home we’d love that so much for this sweet girl, just give us a call to set up a meet and greet or stop by! 765-2200

BCAS would like to say a great big thank you from our furry friends, for the wonderful donation delivered today from the GoMart Inc. office in Gassaway! The kind employees of GoMart came together for a donation drive for our shelter pals and filled the shelves of our stock room. It was a wonderful blessing. Thank you to each and every one who donated! 🫶🏼🐶

Annie 🌸

Annie is said to be a corgi/pit mix. We can’t be certain but she is definitely a lowrider. She is already spayed, 4 years old and 48lbs. She is said to be good with kids and no cats for Annie. She dog tests well here at the shelter and lived with another male dog. Annie will potty outside every time she’s given the chance and hasn’t had accidents in her room. She walks well on a leash and obviously eats well too. 😂 If you think you might like to give Annie the chance at a loving furever home feel free to stop by or give us a call! 765-2200

Meet Cruz! 🐕

He’s the bestest good boy. Approximately 55lbs. We are estimating 1.5y old. Male pittie mix. Cruz came to us as a stray. He’s a handsome guy with a playful personality but his energy level isn’t overwhelming. He went to an adoption event on Saturday and did great socializing with other people and dogs. He’s an eager to please pup and always looking in your eyes. Walks well on a leash and comes to a whistle. He can sit and shake so at some point someone has worked with him along the way. If you would like to meet Cruz stop by BCAS or call 765-2200.
