A blood draw doesn't have to begin with panic.

Here are 5 things I wish every parent knew:

1️⃣ Preparation matters.
Don't wait until appointment day to start talking about it.

2️⃣ Your child may need more time.
That isn't failure. It's information.

3️⃣ Comfort items are okay.
A favorite stuffed animal, blanket, tablet, headphones, or other familiar item can make a difference.

4️⃣ Distraction isn't “giving in.”
Sometimes distraction is a coping strategy.

5️⃣ You don't have to wait for another bad experience.
You can change the approach BEFORE the next blood draw.

The goal isn't always to make your child fearless.

The goal is to help them feel prepared.
