JUNE CLIENT OF THE MONTH! Meet Windy🤍➡️
She walked into The Barn looking to build strength and improve her health. Today, she’s stronger, more confident, and proving that it’s never too late to start.
Here is Windy’s story:
“As the Beatles’ song goes, “…gonna try with a little help from my friends (and husband).”
No one tells you about the loss of identity involved in retiring from a 30+ year career. Add to that an amplification of ADHD due to hormonal changes and you get me, a depressed 62 year old woman. My weight and overall health spiraled out of control before a friend encouraged me to start walking with her. After six months, when I could breathe normally on a walk again, another friend suggested trying a workout at The Barn. Instead of just giving it a try, my husband encouraged me to dive into the Lift Foundations class, a 12-session introduction class.
I had read enough to know how important strength training is as we age and everything about this class felt connected to improving my daily life.
To be honest, it was not a smooth start for me. My muscle tone had decreased significantly and I had a very hard time engaging what little muscle remained. It was only through the on-going support of my instructors and fellow classmates that I was able to persevere, and persevere I did! I have since added barre classes to my weekly schedule.
I know that my strength, balance and endurance have improved significantly in the last five months at The Barn, but aside from that my high blood pressure is under control and my A1C levels are no longer indicative of Type 2 diabetes. I could never have come this far without the encouragement, and even accountability, provided by staff and members at The Method.”
Windy, your dedication, consistency, and willingness to keep showing up inspire us every day. We’re so grateful you’re part of The Method community. 🤍
