A lot has changed since 1971. Local still matters. 💙

The frames. The storefronts. The neighborhoods around us.

Through it all, personal eye care has remained at the heart of Gilbert Eyecare. A conversation. Time to listen. Getting to know the person behind the glasses.

Swipe through a few moments from our history. Thank you for making us part of your Hampton Roads story.

Gilbert Eyecare has been part of Hampton Roads for over 55 years, and we’re grateful for every patient who chooses to support local care. 💙

When you choose a local, independent practice, you’re choosing more than an eye exam. You’re choosing relationships, familiar faces, and a team that’s proud to serve the same community you call home.

Thank you for choosing local. 👓

Your eyes have ways of telling you when something has changed. 👀

Headaches. More screen fatigue. Trouble driving at night. Squinting. Things looking a little blurry.

Individually, they might seem easy to brush off, but they can all be signs that it’s time to check in on your vision.

And remember: you don’t have to wait until something feels wrong. Regular comprehensive eye exams help keep tabs on both your vision and your eye health.

Your eye exam is only half the experience. 👓

The right eyewear should feel comfortable, fit your style, and be something you actually want to wear.

At Gilbert Eyecare, we’re here to help you find the right fit from start to finish — with plenty of options and a team ready to help along the way.

Because seeing well is important. Feeling good in what you wear matters, too.

Little eyes. Big things ahead. 👓✨

At Gilbert Eyecare, pediatric eye care is about more than checking vision. It’s about creating an experience where kids feel comfortable, confident and maybe even have a little fun along the way.

From expert pediatric eye care to frames kids actually want to wear, we’re here to help them see, learn, play and experience their world.

Because kids deserve more than a smaller version of an adult eye exam. 💙

The annual fight over picking out glasses is officially cancelled. 🙅‍♀️

We believe that when kids get to lead the way, trying on fun styles, testing out durable frames, and even customizing their own pair, the experience changes completely. It stops being a chore and starts being an adventure.

The result? They find a pair they’re genuinely proud of, which means you won’t have to remind them to wear them.

👀 Is your child’s glasses prescription getting stronger every year?

For many children, that’s due to myopia (nearsightedness) progressing as their eyes grow.

The good news? Early intervention may help slow that progression.

At Gilbert Eyecare, we take the time to evaluate each child’s vision, answer your questions, and discuss whether myopia control may be an appropriate option.

If your child has a family history of nearsightedness or you’ve noticed their prescription changing frequently, now is a great time to schedule a comprehensive eye exam.

👉 Swipe through to learn what every parent should know about myopia.
