One of the best gifts you can give your child is the gift of good 🌞sun safety habits. Sun damage is cumulative - it builds up over time and can lead to skin cancer, premature aging, and skin discoloration down the road. Our skin remembers every sunburn, and the damage adds up. ➕➕➕
Kids spend much more time outdoors than adults (think playtime, 🤾recess, 🏀sports⚽, vacation🌴, etc.), and studies show that a large portion of our lifetime sun exposure happens in childhood. Those are CRITICAL years for sun safety to prevent sun-related issues later in life!
Not all sun damage is the result of a bright red🥵 sunburn. Other signs of skin damage are tanned skin, freckles, and dry/rough patches.
Sun protection habits should be EASY and CONSISTENT! Here are some tips:
🔆Wear SPF 30+ DAILY 🧴 (no matter the weather) and reapply every 90 minutes if you are directly exposed to the sun ☀
🔆If you know you or your child will be directly exposed for a long period of time, wear sun-protective clothing 👕
🔆Wear a wide-brim hat 👒 to protect the face, ears, and neck 😎
🔆Seek shade⛱ whenever possible - especially during midday
🔆Model sun safety to instill the value in your children 👪
