Missouri Baptist Medical Center’s commitment to caring for moms and babies has earned national recognition. 👏

MoBap recently received the Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from the Joint Commission and the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists - ACOG, recognizing the hospital’s high standards for patient-centered care throughout pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care.

“At Missouri Baptist Medical Center, we always strive to provide the best care possible for every patient,” said Ann Abad, Missouri Baptist Medical Center president. “At a very important time in their lives, we are here for them.”

This recognition reflects years of dedication from teams across MoBap who care for growing families every day, from routine deliveries to high-risk pregnancies and NICU care.

Thank you to our patients for letting us care for you and your babies! 💙👶

Look how we've bloomed! 🌸

Families, caregivers, and care teams came together last week to celebrate the incredible growth of former MoBap NICU patients. Our NICU reunion is a chance to reconnect with other families and our staff after their time in the NICU.The afternoon included hand-made Mother’s Day gifts, visits from therapy dogs, and lots of fun shared between families and the teams who cared for them.

It was such a meaningful afternoon celebrating these kids and the strength of our NICU community. Thank you to everyone who helped make it so special! 💚

When experiencing childbirth for the first time, being in the hands of an experienced and caring clinician can provide unmatched peace of mind. Nadja felt that level of support and expertise with Kari Reimann, a certified nurse midwife (CNM) with BJC Medical Group.

“My husband and I met with Kari, and we liked her and her practice, and it aligned with how I wanted to give birth,” says Nadja. She remembers how Kari talked through all the different steps of labor with her. “Kari is big on consent; we talked about different medications and interventions.” Nadja liked how Kari equipped her with knowledge and the agency to choose what she wanted for her first birth.

Nadja also notes how comfortable she felt throughout the birthing process with Kari. “Kari was a calming force in the labor room,” she says. Nadja did not have an epidural or any intervention methods during the birth. During the pushing part of the delivery, Nadja was comforted by Kari’s encouragement. “Kari was at my bedside for hours.” On Feb. 1, 2025, she delivered her daughter at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, and had an uncomplicated pregnancy and a spontaneous labor.

Katie knows firsthand just how powerful donor breast milk can be—first as a NICU mom, then as a donor herself.

After giving birth to premature twin boys at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Katie relied on donor milk to help nourish her sons until her own supply came in. Now, she’s paid it forward in a big way by dropping off nearly 1,500 ounces of frozen breast milk at MoBap’s milk donation site. That’s enough to help feed dozens of babies! 🍼

For fragile newborns, breast milk can be lifesaving, and moms like Katie are helping more families have access to it when they need it most.

Congratulations to Rich Liekweg, BJC Health System CEO, who announced his plans to retire on October 1, 2025, concluding an extraordinary career spanning almost 40 years in health care, the last 16 of which were devoted to BJC.

“It has been an honor to serve and lead our team members these past 16 years as they deliver exceptional care to our patients and communities,” said Rich. “Together, we successfully navigated through unprecedented times in the industry, never losing sight of our singular purpose to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. I am deeply proud of our caregivers, the culture we have created, and the values we share that place the patient at the center of all we do.”
