June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of brain health and support those facing memory loss, dementia, and other behavioral health challenges.

At Troy Regional, our Senior Behavioral Care Unit provides compassionate, specialized care for older adults experiencing emotional, cognitive, and behavioral changes that can often accompany conditions like Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Our team understands that these challenges affect not only patients, but entire families.

Thank you to the Salvation Army “Donut Lassies” for bringing by a sweet treat this morning. A tradition that began in World War I when Salvation Army Officers and volunteers brought the treats that helped lift the troop’s spirits.

1938, The Salvation Army in Chicago established the first NATIONAL DONUT DAY, a tradition created to support those suffering during the Depression and to honor the legacy of the Donut Lassies.

Today the donut remains a lasting symbol of the comfort and joy The Salvation Army provided to soldiers during World War I. National Donut Day, celebrated every year on the first Friday of June, continues to commemorate the work of the Donut Lassies, with Salvation Army locations across the country delivering donuts to VETERANS AND THOSE IN NEED as part of their ongoing mission of service and compassion.
