Happy 30th birthday gray!

You add so much to all our lives. I’m inspired by your focus on friends and family, your athleticism, drive to continually learn about the world, and the way you set your goals and crush them! You are a terrific aunt to Louis, Riley and Avery, even driving hours out of your way to visit them on a spontaneous layover.

Thanks to you, Jack gets outside now and then—if only to cheer you on in the NYC Marathon or play pickleball on courts you reserved. You are analytical and organized, and I am so impressed how well you mastered the London neighborhoods, transportation, culture & parks while at London business school. It was so much fun to visit and experience some of your life in London.

We love you and I look forward to the next 30 years. So blessed to have you as our daughter-in-law!

Such an inspiring night in Alice Waters’ home making fresh pasta, and celebrating farmers and leaders in San Franciso Bay Area restaurants.

Alice has positively impacted hundreds of thousands of children and our foodways across the world — and she shows no sign of slowing down!

The question “Where should we meet for dinner in Downtown Burlingame?” is now answered!

Thank you Tim Stannard, Mark Sullivan, and the entire team at Bacchus Management group for your thoughtful, exquisite remodel of The Old Post Office.

The teller windows remain, the room where our four kids all got their first passports now serves as a gorgeous private dining room, and the restaurant is warmed with layered lighting, interesting art, mohair walls, and two gorgeous bars!

Our initial bites of Chef Jonathan Granada’s creative and classic dishes made us want to return again and again. The martinis are delicious and strong, but fortunately it’s less than a mile to walk home.

Brilliantly done team. We are happy for you all and are committed to being regulars. Congratulations!!

Loved visiting with chef Cory Lee in the Benu kitchen last night.

One of Benu’s newest chefs is roommates with my nephew Nick in The Mission. The 12 course meal unfolded like theater with every bite more uniquely delicious than the next. I’ll never forget the charcoal-grilled black pork “tacos”!

Thank you Chef for the warm welcome and happy birthday Nick! And special thanks to Sinéad Q. Quach for an incredible dining experience.

Summing up a week with friends and family in the Inside Passage of Alaska in one phrase: Immersion in Nature.

From our UTV adventure in Ketchikan, breeching whales and soaring bald eagles, kayaking on Icy Straight Point, to hiking & river rafting in the Chilkaut Rainforest and Skagway Taiya River, natural beauty and wildlife surrounded us.

Some highlights included :
—Playing liars dice, cards, word games, mahjong and backgammon on scenic cruising days with the Pacific Ocean and velvety green mountains as our backdrop.

—When the Captain ventured out of the bridge to sing, dance, and serve chilled vodka shots in the sun.

—Exploring old gold rush towns like Skagway and Valdez in search of the best fresh crab, spicy shrimp, and microbrews.

—Learning about the beautiful Alaskan marine life and glaciers.

—The spontaneity of our kids performing at karaoke night and winning prizes at trivia night.

—The love and warmth and laughter that expands when family members become friends, and friends grow into family. 🩷💚💙

We love when our cousins from other states visit. Shout out to Matt and Carmen from Nashville and their girls. Loved making Nutella-filled puff pancakes with you, checking out the Golden Gate Bridge and the Discovery Museum, and spending time with family. Love you all!
