Thomas Rix Pickle

Former Little Egg Harbor resident Tom Pickle died Sept. 11 at his home in Gainesville, Ga.

Tom, who was 87, was a devoted supporter of the arts in the Tuckerton area. He was an active member of the Pine Shores Art Association and won numerous awards for his paintings, most of them water color. He also was a major admirer of The Bay Atlantic Symphony and seldom missed a performance.

Tom was an enthusiastic traveler in his retirement years and enjoyed cruises with his late wife, Sherry, in Europe and the Caribbean. He was a licensed pilot and possessed deep knowledge of World War II

air and sea conflict. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-67, reaching the rank of captain. He was an accomplished model builder and worked for Xerox, among other companies.

Tom was born in Big Spring, Texas, on June 25, 1939. He and Sherry moved to Little Egg Harbor in 2014. Sherry died in 2022.

Survivors include brothers Gary Pickle of Austin, Texas, and David Pickle of Dahlonega, Ga., and also sister-in-law Brenda Volpicelli of Concord, N.C

Marilyn "Lyn" Ann Mears

Marilyn “Lyn” A. Mears, 81, of Barnegat, NJ passed away on Thursday October 15th, 2026. Lyn was born and raised in Staten Island, NY and spent many years living there before moving to Barnegat, NJ over 20 years ago. Lyn attended and graduated from Maria College in Albany, NY and throughout her life worked as a nurse in a variety of roles and locations. However, the highlight and endcap of her career, was serving the soldiers at Fort Dix Military Base in Pemberton, NJ. She exhibited a strong sense of patriotism and loved being able to help those who put their lives on the line to serve our country and protect our freedoms.

Lyn had a strong Christian faith and was a longtime member of Gateway Cathedral in Staten Island, NY where she was very involved in church activities, and charity ministry. After moving to NJ, she later became an active member at Bayside Chapel where she formed many close and lasting friendships.

For many years, Lyn took much pleasure in going antiquing, seeking out flea markets and yard sales (aka “junking”) and collecting nostalgic items from the 1940’s and 1950’s. She appreciated music from that same time period, with an affinity for Elvis and barbershop music, but what really got her feet moving was many a night out ballroom dancing!

She also enjoyed a good game of Rummikub, eating out at her favorite restaurants (or trying new ones), watching TV sitcoms (such as Happy Days or Laverne and Shirley), or going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Lyn was predeceased by her parents John and Marilyn Gaeta, and – as her own physical health declined - eagerly anticipated their heavenly reunion!

She is survived by her brothers Gus Reinhold (and wife Rose) of Manahawkin, NJ and Tom Reinhold (and wife Regina) of Point Pleasant, NJ; her son Owen Mears (and wife Beth) of Mount Holly, NJ, and grandchildren Daniel (and wife Brittany), Julia, Eliana and Caleb.

Visitation will be held at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd. Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087, on Wednesday October 21st, 2026 from 3:30pm - 5pm, with service to follow.

Private burial will be held at Ocean County Memorial Park in Waretown, NJ.

Robert Wm. Bradley

Robert Wm. Bradley, 79 of Philadelphia, PA and Little Egg Habor, NJ passed on Wednesday October 14, 2026. Born in Havertown, PA, Robert was a longtime resident of Philadelphia, PA who enjoyed spending his summers in Little Egg Harbor.

He worked as a hair stylist for more than 40 years, most recently working at Millenium Hair and Day Spa in Wynnewood, PA. A communicant of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Little Egg Harbor, Robert generously supported his faith community and took pride in decorating the church. He also enjoyed gardening and appreciating the beauty of nature.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alice Bradley.

He is survived by his spouse of 51 years Thom C. Motta; his brothers, Joseph Bradley Jr. and his wife, Nancy, and Edward Bradley and his wife, Suzann; and his nieces and nephews, Diane Bradley, Joe Bradley III, Carol Bradley, Jacqueline Walters and Matthew Bradley. Also his many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday October 24, 2026 from 10a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11a.m. at St. Theresa R. C. Church 450 Radio Road Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Interment will be on Monday October 26 at 11:30a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Outreach Program at Old St. Jospeh’s Church, 321 Willings Alley, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Derek Dalton

Derek Dalton, 78, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on October 13, 2026. Derek was born in Farington, England.

He pursued his love of art at the University of Leeds where he graduated with First Class Honours in Graphic Design. Upon graduation he was accepted into the Royal College of Art in London where he was awarded Master of Art with First Class Honours.

During his teens Derek won a scholarship to travel to New York. After pursuing his career in graphic design in London, he followed his lifelong passion to emigrate to the US.

While living in New York he worked as Art Director for Burson-Marsteller and eventually started his own graphic design firm, Derek Dalton Design. During his career he received numerous awards on two Continents.

After moving to Liberty, New York, he accepted a position teaching graphic design at BOCES of Sullivan County. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Liberty Public Library and designed the library’s logo.

After his retirement he moved to North Augusta, SC before settling in Little Egg Harbor in 2024 to be closer to family.

He was a member of the Mid-Hudson Graphic Arts Association. After moving to New Jersey he joined the Stafford Pathfinders walking group and enjoyed activities through Interfaith Health & Support Services.

Derek was a lifelong soccer enthusiast. He had an appreciation for art and architecture and the music of Motown. He was adept in home repair and restoration, enjoyed visiting museums and traveled extensively.

Derek was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Isabella Dalton and his brother, Gerald.

He is survived by his loving wife, Angela Dalton, sister-in-law, Brenda, nephew Alan and niece Judith.

Cremation will be held privately.

Charles L Hoerning

Charles Leo Hoerning, 87 of Little Egg Harbor New Jersey passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 10, 2026 after a six-month battle with cancer. Born in 1939, Charles was raised and grew up in Roselle Park New Jersey where he graduated from the local Roselle Park high school. Upon graduation, his education and passion for mechanics and engineering and cars began. He spent six months as a national guardsman, completing basic training and serving his hours part-time at night, he attended Rutgers University for two years and finished his education at Monmouth College, where he received a degree in mathematics education. He became the youngest employee at Bell labs Murray Hill to which he remained with many for years until his retirement. Charles was part of the original Mechanical Engineering teams and staff at Bell Labs Building in Holmdel NJ, which is now a popular destination in Monmouth County known as Bell Works.

He and his wife Elaine of 65 years moved to Middletown New Jersey in the late 1960s and raised their family. In retirement, Charles continued to build, create and design. He created Sleepy Hollow Designs LLC, a consulting firm which supported several builders as well as mechanical companies. He also built his dream garage, where he rebuilt cars and did many car repairs and welding jobs. Charles also taught a drafting class called cad key at night schools in the area. Still with all this, Charles had time for numerous hobbies such as bowling, fishing, golfing and enjoying a cold b**r or two in his friends and neighbors garages. When their children were grown, they sold and moved south, splitting their time between Little Egg Harbor, and Fort Pierce, Florida; their happy place.

He is pre-deceased by his father Fritz, who came to this country at the age of 18, and his mother Beatrice and his brothers Raymond and Arthur Hoerning.

He is survived by his beloved wife Elaine of 63 years with whom he shared many years of traveling the US and many other countries. Together they were the perfect snow birds sharing many long happy hours and beautiful Florida sunsets! His children, son Christian and daughter-in-law Kathleen Hoerning, daughter Dore Ann and son-in-law Alex Rogers and daughter Tracy Hoerning. His beloved grandchildren, Austin, Rylan and Chase to whom he watched grow up and attended countless soccer games, surfing events, swim meets, band concerts; you name it he was there supporting them. He shared his love of cars, fishing, bad jokes and his infectious grandpa Charlie laugh.

The family will hold a celebration of life in the near future as that was Charles‘s wish. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Charles' name to the American Cancer Society. Patricia Ann Mackiewicz

Patricia Ann Mackiewicz, 79, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Patricia later lived in Holtsville, NY, before making Little Egg Harbor her home 38 years ago.

Patricia dedicated part of her career to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Elmhurst Hospital in New York City. She later worked at Wawa in Little Egg Harbor, where she continued to be part of her local community.

A woman of deep faith, Patricia loved Jesus and was a devoted communicant of St. Theresa R.C. Church in Little Egg Harbor, where she also served as an usher. Her faith was an important part of her life, as was the love she shared so freely with those around her.

Above all, Patricia cherished her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. She enjoyed attending the Cranberry Festival and the Christmas and holiday festivals throughout the area. She also loved shopping, indulging in anything pumpkin spice, and tending to her beautiful azalea bushes and sunflowers. Patricia had a strong spirit and a heart that loved everyone unconditionally. She will be remembered for her honesty, warmth, faith, and the special love she gave to her family and friends.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents, James and Dorothy Sherrock, brothers Jimmy and Bobby and sisters Dorothy, Eleanor and Frannie.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 55 years, Anthony Mackiewicz; her daughter, Lisa Vongrej and her husband, Martin, of Forked River, NJ; her son, Anthony Mackiewicz, and his fiancée, Jennifer Laird, of Little Egg Harbor, and her six cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Katrina, Korral, Cassandra, Brandon, and Ava. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret and Maureen, as well as her treasured pet cockatiel, Leo.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa R.C. Church, 450 Radio Road, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.

Philip Anthony Daly Jr.

Philip Anthony Daly, 74, of Barnegat, New Jersey, passed away on October 2, 2026.

Born on March 28, 1952, Philip was the son of Mary Gloria Garland and Philip Anthony Daly.

Phil was the beloved husband of Karen (Czajkowski) Daly, whom he always called “Kase,” his special nickname for her. Their 48 year love story began in Newark where they started their family. Later, they relocated to Barnegat where they built a life rooted in family, friendship and community.

Phil was a devoted father to Philip Anthony Daly III (Heidi) and Terence Daly, and a proud grandfather to Phinn and River. He took great pride in the men his sons became and embraced grandfatherhood with the warmth, loyalty and enthusiasm he brought to every part of his life.

A lifelong fan of Notre Dame, Jets, Mets and Devils. Phil remained loyal through every season; especially to the God damn Jets, who seemed determined to test his patience. He followed his teams with passion, celebrated victories and endured disappointments with the good humor of a true fan.

Sports were more than something Phil watched; they were a way he connected with the people he loved. He never missed a game, recital or event involving his sons and grandchildren and was always there to support them in every way.

Phil dedicated 30 years to the Newark Fire Department and eventually rose to the rank of Fire Captain. Following September 11, 2001, Phil answered the call to serve, taking part in search and rescue efforts at the World Trade Center site. His career was defined by courage, leadership and a deep sense of responsibility.

Phil was deeply proud of his Irish heritage, his connection to the community and all of his family (there is a lot). He was a member of The Friendly Sons of Shillelagh and The Ocean County Emerald Society Pipe & Drums, where he played the drums and shared his love of music with others.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Phil’s life on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Maxwell Funeral Home in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Phil’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org).

Edward A Ebley

Edward A. Ebley, 88, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Monday September 28th, 2026. Edward was born in Camden, NJ and spent many years living in Manahawkin, NJ before settling in Little Egg Harbor in 2005. Edward worked as a carpenter and enjoyed watching westerns, listening to old country music and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

Edward was predeceased by his parents Edward and Viola Ebley, his beloved wife Carol Ebley and his half-brother Joseph Parisi.

He is survived by his loving daughters Denise Malay and husband Dan of Manahawkin, NJ, Lori Harder and husband Scott of Tuckerton, NJ, Janice Joannides and husband Mike of Manahawkin, NJ, Lynn Schuda and husband Dave of Eagleswood, NJ, Melissa Xifo and husband Mike Wells of Egg Harbor Township, NJ and Susie Buzby and husband Brent of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, grandchildren Danny and wife Lori, Chris and wife Mary, Andy, Brian and wife Carly, Tracy, Michael and wife Morgan, Nick, Julia, Jessica, Jake, Katie, Amelia and Autumn, great-grandchildren Maddy, Daniel, Harry and Lou and great-great-grandchildren Tatum, Blake and Riley.

Kathleen Muso

Kathleen Muso, 65, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Kathleen was born in Jersey City, NJ, and spent many years living in Little Egg Harbor before moving to Whiting two years ago.

Kathleen spent much of her life caring for others. She worked as a nurse’s assistant for Bacharach, AtlantiCare, and Southern Ocean Medical Center before retiring. She had a natural way of making people feel cared for, and she will be remembered for her big heart, wonderful sense of humor, and the laughter she brought wherever she went.

Kathleen loved to joke, laugh, cook, and spend time with the people she loved. But more than anything in this world, she loved being a grandmother to her beloved granddaughter, Brooke. Brooke was truly the light of Kathleen’s life. Their bond was incredibly special, and Kathleen treasured every moment they shared.

Kathleen was so proud of Brooke and loved watching her grow. Kathleen was predeceased by her father, Joseph Muso, and her sister, Kim Muso.

She is survived by her loving children, Joseph Kemmler of Byram Township, NJ, and daughter Rebecca Muso and her fiancé, Austin Laney, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; her cherished granddaughter, Brooke Laney, age 10, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; her fiancé of 16 years, Deon Worthy, of Whiting, NJ; her siblings, Jeff Muso, Debbie Muso, Mark Muso, Ralph Muso, Rich Muso, Darren Muso, Scott Muso, Anthony Muso, Todd Muso, and Glenn Muso; as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerous cherished friends.

Kathleen leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love. To her family and friends, she will always be remembered for her ability to make people laugh and the warmth she brought into their lives. Her greatest legacy will not be measured in years, but in the love she gave and the memories she created with the people who meant the most to her. Kathleen will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until her Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Cremation will be private.

Anthony Saccomagno

Anthony Saccomagno, 88 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Friday September 25, 2026. Anthony was born and lived in Manhattan, NY before moving to Brooklyn, NJ and eventually settling in Little Egg Harbor, NJ in 2001. Anthony held many jobs, working as a truck driver, carpenter and contractor. He enjoyed building and fixing many things, going fishing, woodworking and spending time with family. He was a phenomenal grandfather who adored his grandkids.

Anthony was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Josephine Saccomagno and his daughter-in-law Lisamarie Saccomagno.

He is survived by his loving wife Concetta of 64 years, son Anthony Saccomagno Jr. of Little Egg Harbor, NJ son Richard Saccomagno and wife Cecilia of Staten Island, NY grandchildren Sarahanne, Anthony III, Francesca, Juleeanna and Richard and sister-in-law Diana Falcone.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday September 30, 2026 from 9am until his Memorial Service at 12pm at Maxwell Funeral Home,160 Mathistown Rd, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Interment will immediately follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown NJ 08562.
