Have you ever said “yes” when you really wanted to say “no”—just to avoid conflict, disappointment, or making someone upset?

That may be more than simply being “nice.” Fawning is a people-pleasing survival strategy that can involve automatically prioritizing other people’s feelings, needs, and comfort over your own.

It can look like apologizing when you’ve done nothing wrong, constantly checking on everyone else’s emotions, avoiding conflict, or saying yes while feeling completely overwhelmed.

The good news? Awareness creates choice. Learning to pause, check in with yourself, set boundaries, and tolerate someone else’s disappointment can help you move from automatically pleasing others to responding from a place of authenticity.

You can care about other people without abandoning yourself. 🤍

Can’t sleep because your nervous system doesn’t know how to switch off? 🌙

Sometimes sleep difficulties aren’t simply about having poor sleep habits.

After trauma or prolonged stress, your nervous system can remain on high alert—even when you consciously know you’re safe. At night, this can show up as racing thoughts, muscle tension, nightmares, repeated waking, or anxiety about going to sleep.

EMDR may help when trauma, distressing memories, anxiety, or nightmares are contributing to sleep difficulties.

By processing experiences that continue to feel threatening, EMDR can help reduce their emotional intensity and may give your nervous system more room to settle.

That said, EMDR isn’t a universal treatment for insomnia, and persistent sleep problems can have many causes. Medical and sleep-related conditions should be appropriately evaluated by a healthcare professional.

At Rehoboth Therapy & Wellness, we offer EMDR therapy and EMDR intensives in Arizona for people working through trauma-related concerns, anxiety, flashbacks, and nightmares.

If you’re tired of being tired and wondering whether unresolved experiences could be affecting your sleep, book a free consultation to explore whether EMDR may be right for you.

Sometimes the reaction you’re having today makes more sense when you understand what little you learned back then. 🤍

Maybe you learned to keep the peace, be perfect, avoid asking for help, or take responsibility for everyone else’s feelings.

Those patterns may have helped you feel safe as a child—but you don’t have to carry them forever.

The next time you notice a strong reaction, pause and ask:

✨ What am I feeling?
✨ What does this remind me of?
✨ What is little me afraid will happen?
✨ What does little me need right now?
✨ What can adult me give myself instead?

You are not your patterns. You can notice them, understand them, and choose something different.

Sometimes healing begins with a simple question:
“What does little me say?”

Save this for the moments when you need a little more compassion for yourself. 🤍

Ready to explore the patterns you’ve been carrying? Therapy can help. Schedule a consultation with us.

The back-to-school season can be full of preparation, excitement, and a lot of emotions. While you’re making sure your children feel ready, don’t forget to check in with yourself, too. 💛

Your mental health matters. Taking time to pause, recharge, and ask for support when needed is a meaningful part of caring for your family.

This year, let’s make room for grace, connection, and self-care—one small step at a time.

✨ What is one thing you’re doing to support yourself this school year?

When someone you love is living with a chronic illness, it’s easy to put your own needs on the back burner. Many spouses become caregivers overnight, balancing appointments, responsibilities, and emotional stress while trying to stay strong for their partner.
But here’s something we want you to hear:

💙 Your mental health matters, too.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, or even grieving doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human.

Supporting your spouse starts with supporting yourself. Therapy can provide a safe place to process difficult emotions, build resilience, and learn healthy coping strategies that benefit both you and your relationship.

If you’re navigating this season and wondering how to carry it all, you don’t have to do it alone. Rehoboth Therapy and Wellness is here to walk alongside you.
