💛🖤A Special Thank You to The Met Church and Dr. Ray A. Owens for honoring May as Mental Health Month🖤💛

On behalf of Skillz on Wheelz, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to The Met Church and Pastor Dr. Ray A. Owens for their unwavering commitment to mental health and emotional wellness in our community.

Not only did The Met graciously open its doors and provide space for us to share vital mental health resources, but Dr. Owens also courageously led a powerful sermon series entitled Good Grief, a timely and much-needed conversation about loss, healing, faith, and hope.

If you have not had the opportunity to experience this series, it is truly a must-watch.

The work being done through The Met Church is transforming lives. Their commitment to addressing the whole person mind, body, and soul demonstrates what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community.

We are grateful for churches that are willing to have difficult conversations, create safe spaces for healing, and remind people that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a step toward wholeness.

We pray that God continues to bless Dr. Owens, First Lady Dion Owens, and the entire Met Church family as they shine His light throughout Tulsa and beyond.

Thank you for being a beacon of hope, healing, and love.

🖤 Mental Health Mondays 💛

Starting this Monday, we’re opening the door to honest conversations about mental health, healing, stress, growth, and life. Some weeks may encourage you. Some may challenge you. Some may simply remind you to breathe.

Our hope is simple: that this becomes a space where people feel comfortable being real without fear of judgment.

You don’t have to have all the answers.
You don’t have to have it all together.
You just have to know you’re not alone.

Join us each Monday as we share encouragement, coping tools, conversations, and reminders that healing is possible.

Heart. Comment. Share. Encourage somebody. Save what speaks to you.

Disclaimer: Posts shared are for encouragement and education only and are not a substitute for therapy or medical advice. If you are in crisis, call 911 or 988.

The Skillz on Wheelz Barbershop Initiative, started by Leon Skillens, was created to help break the stigma surrounding mental health in the African American community by using one of the most trusted spaces we have — the barbershop. ✂️🖤

This initiative trains and equips barbers to recognize mental health concerns, start meaningful conversations, and connect individuals to resources and support when needed. It’s about creating safe spaces, building trust, and reminding people they do not have to suffer in silence.

One haircut.
One conversation.
One life changed at a time.
