Do bigger breast implants create better cleavage? Not necessarily. 👀

When it comes to breast augmentation, choosing a larger implant doesn’t automatically mean you’ll achieve more cleavage. Implant size is only one part of the equation.

Dr. Cuzalina explains that several anatomical and implant-related factors can influence your result, including:

• Projection vs. width — The dimensions and profile of the implant matter, not just the overall size.
• Ni**le location — Your natural anatomy and ni**le position play a role in the appearance of the breasts after augmentation.
• Whether you need a breast lift — In some cases, adding a larger implant isn’t the solution. A lift may need to be considered to achieve the desired result.

Should you lose weight before a Mommy Makeover? 🤔

The answer isn’t necessarily, “You have to reach your goal weight first.”

Dr. Cuzalina explains that while many surgeons may operate on patients with a BMI below 35, getting below a BMI of 30 can make cosmetic surgery safer. But BMI isn’t the only thing that matters — your overall health, weight stability, anatomy, and surgical plan all play a role.

One of the BIGGEST things to consider is whether your weight is stable.

If you’re actively gaining weight or know you still have a significant amount of weight you want to lose, this may not be the right time for a Mommy Makeover.

But what if you’re only about 10–15 pounds from your desired weight?

You may not necessarily need to wait. As Dr. Cuzalina explains, losing some additional weight after surgery can potentially make your body-contouring results look even better.

And there’s another important factor that many patients don’t realize:

Not all abdominal fat is the same.

👉 Subcutaneous fat sits beneath the skin and above the abdominal muscles. This is the type of fat that can be treated with liposuction.

👉 Visceral fat is deeper inside the abdominal cavity, underneath the abdominal wall and surrounding the internal organs. Liposuction cannot remove visceral fat.

That distinction matters not only for your cosmetic surgery results, but also for your overall health.

So, should you lose weight before a Mommy Makeover?

It depends on where you are in your weight-loss journey, whether your weight is stable, the type and distribution of abdominal fat you have, your BMI, your overall health, and the procedures you’re considering.

The goal isn’t simply to get the number on the scale as low as possible. It’s to choose the safest time to have surgery while setting yourself up for the best long-term result.
