Ever wonder why your ears feel pressure when you’re sick? Meet the Eustachian Tube.

This small tube connects your middle ear to the upper throat, helping regulate pressure and drain fluid. When a viral infection like a cold or the flu occurs, the lining of the Eustachian Tube can swell, causing fluid buildup and that uncomfortable pressure.

There are ways to help relieve it, but it’s always a good idea to check with a medical professional for the best care.

Today is NF2-SWN awareness day. Formerly known as Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2), NF2-SWN is a rare genetic disorder which causes benign tumors to grow on the nerves. It is characterized by bilateral vestibular schwannomas (benign tumors) on the hearing and balance nerve and often leads to complete hearing loss and vestibular dysfunction.

If you enjoy reading, Soundtrack of Silence by Matt Hay follows Matt's inspirational story of his journey with NF2-SWN.

👂 Hearing Loss by the Numbers

Did you know hearing loss is one of the most common health conditions in the U.S.?

📊 More than 50 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss
📊 It’s the 3rd most common chronic condition—more than diabetes or cancer
📊 Nearly 1 in 5 people who could benefit from hearing aids actually use them
📊 And on average, people wait 9 YEARS before seeking treatment

Hearing loss doesn’t just affect your ears—it can impact your communication, relationships, and overall health.

The good news? Early treatment and support can make a life-changing difference.

👉 If you’ve been turning up the volume, asking people to repeat themselves, or struggling in noisy environments—it might be time for a hearing check.

📍 We’re here to help every step of the way.
