At least once or twice a week, someone asks me if I think using a GLP is cheating.
The more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve realized we’re asking the wrong question.
The question isn’t, “Is it cheating?”
The question is:
Does it make you more conscious or less conscious about how you treat your body?
If someone takes a GLPs just to lose weight while continuing to eat poorly, avoid exercise, neglect sleep, and ignore their overall health, I don’t think they cheated.
I think they wasted an incredible opportunity.
They probably just went from being a bigger unhealthy person to a smaller unhealthy person.
But if a GLP-1 helps someone build healthier eating habits, improve metabolic health, quiet the constant food noise, and free up mental energy to invest in their family, purpose, relationships, and personal growth... I’m all for it.
One thing I find interesting is that we criticize GLPs while giving the food industry a free pass. They’ve spent billions engineering foods to be more craveable and harder to stop eating. They’ve been using science to influence our biology for decades.
Then science develops a tool to help people regain control over those same biological drives, and suddenly that’s “cheating”?
That doesn’t make much sense to me.
You still have to do the work.
GLPs:
They don’t build muscle.
They don’t make healthy choices for you.
They don’t replace movement, sleep, or discipline.
They remove barriers so you can do the work more consistently.
To me, that’s the entire point.
The goal isn’t to become dependent on a medication.
The goal is to become more intentional.
More aware.
More conscious.
So instead of asking whether GLPs are cheating...
Ask this:
Are they helping you become more conscious about your health, or simply more concerned about your appearance? Are they helping you become a better version of yourself or feeding into an unhealthy relationship with your body?
Those are questions that actually matter.
