🎉 **We had such an amazing response to our last hiring post... we're doing it again!** 🐾

As summer comes to an end, a few of our incredible Animal Care Attendants are heading back to school. While we're so proud of them and excited for what's ahead, we're definitely going to miss them around the clinic! ❤️

That means we're looking for another hardworking, dependable animal lover to join the Southwest Texas Veterinary Medical Center family.

🐰💕 Patient Spotlight: Meet Willow! 💕🐰

Isn’t she adorable? Willow hopped into Southwest Texas Veterinary Medical Center looking as cute as ever… tucked safely inside her favorite plaid carrier. We think she may have been wondering why her chauffeur brought her to the vet instead of the produce section! 🥕😉

Rabbits are wonderful companions, but they’re also experts at hiding illness. Regular wellness exams are one of the best ways to catch problems early and keep them happy and healthy for years to come.

A few rabbit health reminders:
🥬 Feed unlimited grass hay every day.
🥕 Offer fresh leafy greens and a balanced rabbit pellet.
🦷 Rabbit teeth grow continuously, making dental health especially important.
❤️ If your bunny stops eating or producing droppings, don’t wait—it’s an emergency and they should be seen by a veterinarian right away.

🎉Wishing our amazing summer veterinary student intern, Michaela Moreno, the very best as she heads back to Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine for her second year! 💙❤️

It has been such a pleasure watching you grow in your confidence, knowledge, and clinical skills over the course of the summer. Every day you embraced new challenges with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

From doctoring baby pigs, ducks and chickens and a baby addax to replacing cow prolapses, delivering calves, rehabbing baby addax, assisting with splenectomies, enucleations, and emergency GDV surgeries—you truly experienced the wide variety that mixed animal practice has to offer!

More importantly, you built relationships with our team, our clients, and their animals, always showing compassion, professionalism, and a genuine love for veterinary medicine.

Thank you for spending your summer with us and allowing us to be a small part of your veterinary journey. We are incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see all that you’ll achieve in the years ahead.

If your pet has an emergency or urgent medical need, please call us at 📞 830-278-4441 or come directly to the clinic. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Southwest Texas Veterinary Medical Center will be closed for routine appointments and regular business today. However, a limited team will be on-site throughout the day caring for our hospitalized patients and boarding pets.

Our client service team will also be available to reschedule appointments and dispense medications as needed.

The safety of our clients, patients, and team remains our top priority. Please stay safe, avoid flooded roadways, and use your best judgment when traveling.

We will reopen as soon as it is safe to navigate. Team members will be caring for currently hospitalized patients and boarders since our hosptal is NOT flooded.

Fireworks can be scary for pets, so plan ahead before the Fourth of July fireworks. 🧨 🇺🇸

Before fireworks and festivities start, make sure to:

🔒 Secure fences
🐶 Ensure a well-fitted collar with updated info.
👩🏻‍⚕️ Call your veterinarian early if your pet may need medication for anxiety.
🏠 Create a quiet space for your pet to relax, and keep their favorite toys and treats handy.
