The theme of our June session of Schwartz Rounds was "When Teamwork Sparks Joy: Stories of Connection & Support".

Our featured presenters included Music Therapist Liz Ast, Transportation Coordinator James Morris, and Environmental Services Operations Manager Ivan Guaba, moderated by Spiritual Care Practitioner Whitney Wilkerson, MDiv, BCC, NBC-HWC.

The impactful session explored the unexpected ways our team has found joy through teamwork and each presenter shared stories of those unexpected moments that sparked joy and deepened their connections.

On the day of her discharge, Eliesmy's dad, Edilin, shared his deep gratitude with his daughter's care team. After significant progress through comprehensive rehabilitation, ventilator weaning, and specialized feeding, Eliesmy went home to be with her family, just in time for Father's Day.

10 students from Mount Pleasant Blythedale's CPSE classroom graduated on Thursday. Each student made not only academic gains but also huge strides in their therapeutic goals as well. The students will either start Kindergarten in the Fall here at Blythedale or will transition to their community school. We're so proud of all of you!

After nearly 40 years, Julie Knitter, OTR, our Director of Occupational Therapy and Assistive Technology, is retiring. Under Julie’s leadership at Blythedale, the Occupational Therapy Department has grown into one of the largest and most highly regarded pediatric occupational therapy programs in the country.

Her team held a special 'clap-in' this morning and wore matching shirts to celebrate her last day. Julie, thank you for all you have done for our patients and their families. We wish you the very best.

Each year, a Nursing Assistant at Blythedale is honored with the Wonderful Outstanding Worker (W.O.W.) Award. This year, the award was given to four nursing assistants who have made tremendous impacts on their units. Marci Colghan on our Infant & Toddler Unit, Ana Flores on the Pediatrics & Adolescent Unit, Felicia Hatcher at The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Pediatric Long Term Care Pavilion, and Tameka Samuels (not pictured) on the Robert Stone Day Hospital Unit.

This Nursing Assistant Week we celebrate the impact of each of these individuals and their colleagues for all they do.
