Janet Louise Myers

Janet Louise Myers, 87, of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice after a short illness. She was born on June 15, 1939, in Van Wert, to her late parents, Berl and Esther (Caris) Dunlap.

On June 9, 1957, Janet married David L. Myers. They shared their life together until his passing on December 28, 2012.

Janet was a dedicated member of her community. She retired from the Lincolnview School District, where she served faithfully as secretary to the superintendent. Her kindness extended far beyond her work-she was known for her caring spirit, her willingness to help others, and her volunteer service with Cross Over the Hill. Janet also nurtured her faith as a longtime attendee of the Ohio City United Methodist Church.

She embraced life with enthusiasm, especially when cheering on her favorite teams, the Indiana Hoosiers and the Chicago Cubs. Janet shared her home with many beloved boxer dogs over the years and treasured the peaceful moments spent with family along the Auglaize River.

Janet is survived by her sister‑in‑law, Kathy (Ronald - Deceased) Goudy of Van Wert; sister‑in‑law, Beverly (Myers) and Richard Dabb of Florida; brother‑in‑law, Steve and Donna Myers of Convoy; and her many cherished nieces and nephews and their children.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Dunlap; sister, Margaret Beard; sister‑in‑law, Bonnie Dunlap; brother‑in‑law, Carl Beard; niece, Pam Flanagan; and nephew, John Nutt.

Janet will be laid to rest in Middle Creek Cemetery beside her husband during a private ceremony.

Wilma Irene Worthley

Wilma Irene Worthley (Tinnel) went to see Jesus on July 26, 2026. She was born on March 11, 1935, in Knoxville, TN, to Charles and Leona (Jones) Tinnel. Wilma worked for several years at Teleflex Manufacturing before marrying Kendrew Worthley, to whom she was devoted for 40 years. He preceded her in death in 2015.

Wilma cherished the years of traveling with Ken and the adventure of living in Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, and Missouri before returning home to Van Wert. In her younger years, she loved playing the piano-often filling the house with music as her toddlers drifted off to sleep. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and caring for her animals, whom she sometimes loved even more than people. Wilma adored her nieces and nephews with all her heart and found joy in spending time with her many siblings. Their laughter, stories, and spirited fun were a defining part of her life; Wilma and her siblings were always at the center of every good time.

She leaves behind her daughter, Susan K. Mutter, Van Wert; John D. Eibling, Van Wert; and is preceded in death by Gregory Eibling. She is also survived by seven grandchildren-Betty Ann Grimes, Kenneth Turner, Tarah Turner, Terry Turner, Greg Eibling, Carrie Showalter, and Kayla Frye-and sixteen great‑grandchildren.

Wilma is survived by her brother Donnie Tinnel (Susie) of Decatur, IN, and her sister Betty Wallis of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by siblings Ray Tinnel, Clyde Tinnel, James Tinnel, Sadie Baker, Juanita Rayfield, Joyce Hakes, and Floyd Tinnel. She will be deeply missed, and we are forever grateful to have known and loved her.

Marlin E Miller

Marlin "Gene" Miller, 83, of Van Wert, Ohio went home to the Lord on July 24, 2026 after a brief hospitalization surrounded by loving family and with his wife of 62 years at his side.

Gene was born on November 16, 1942, east of Van Wert in Ridge Township. He was the only child of David L. and Alberta (Wurster) Miller who preceded him in death. In 1964, Gene married Linda (Brandon) Miller and together they shared a life filled with wonderful memories and cherished family.

In addition to his wife Linda, Gene is survived by daughter Tamara (Dale) Parsons of Cedarville, Ohio and son Timothy (Michele) Miller of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and great grandson: Elise (Jonny) Jimison and Perry, Abigail (Andrew) Francis, Josiah (Jessica) Parsons and Joel (Komal Dhillon) Miller.

Gene graduated with the Rockford High School Class of 1960 and was a graduate of Wright State University. He worked as an engineer with Federal Mogul Corporation for many years and later retired from Greve Chrysler. He was a longtime member of Trinity Global Methodist Church and served cheerfully in many ways over the years. Gene will be remembered for his quiet faith, generous kindness, the integrity of his work ethic and his deep love and care for his family.

There will be visitation at a memorial reception in Gene's honor at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. A private family funeral at Trinity Global Methodist with committal service at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford will take place on Friday with Pastor David To officiating.

Garry E. Hart

Garry E. Hart, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, departed this life on July 18, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on June 9, 1944, in Van Wert, to his late parents, Byron and Pauline (Miller) Hart. A proud graduate of Crestview High School, Garry completed his studies in 1963 before answering the call to serve his country.

From 1964 to 1968, Garry served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Quantico Marine Base, where he served in a special unit as a mechanic for the Presidential Helicopter, Marine One—a role he carried out with great skill, dedication, and pride.

Following his military service, Garry worked in various departments for the City of Lima, dedicating many years to serving his community until his retirement. He was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, especially of Kyle Busch, and was well‑known for his morning coffee at Orchard Tree and his frequent meals at Bob Evans and Beer Barrel.

Garry is survived by his brother, Bob Hart of Lima; stepson, Jim (Tessa) Moeller of Lady Lake, Florida; special friend, Carolyn Roehm of Convoy; and his step‑grandchildren: Courtney (Colton) Wood, Cody (Valerie) Martin, and Wyatt Moeller; step‑great‑grandchildren: Hadley and Brooke Martin. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Bootsy II.

In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his stepson, Scott Moeller; Scott's wife, Stephanie Moeller; and his brother, James Hart.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Alspach‑Gearhart Funeral Home, 722 S. Washington Street, Van Wert. Following the visitation, Garry will be interred privately at Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered by the combined units of the Van Wert American Legion and VFW.

Donald E. Mengerink

Donald E. "Buddy" Mengerink, Sr, 88, of Van Wert, died at 6:40pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Mercy-St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 25, 1937, in West Unity, Ohio, to Edward W., Sr and Dorothy (Mumford) Mengerink. He married the former Barbara Speelman.

Buddy was a backhoe operator who retired with 31 official years of service to the City of Van Wert, but his work with the city goes back to the 1950s. He started working at a very young age with his father and brothers at E. W. Mengerink and Sons Company and later with the Sherburn Company.

He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Van Wert and was a past member of the former Van Wert Eagles.

Buddy had two hobbies, his family and work. He cherished his relationships and time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his time spent operating his backhoe. Buddy worked until he was 74. He simply loved his work. His vacation time was spent working for others. Humble and hard-working is how he chose to live his life.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Barbara Mengerink of Van Wert; children, Donna (Douglas) Carr of Lansing, Michigan, Donald E. "Bud" (Rhonda Thatcher) Mengerink, Jr of Van Wert, Ronald (Melissa) Mengerink of Van Wert, Karen Ruddock of Powell, Ohio and Stephen (Kelly) Mengerink of Van Wert; grandchildren, Derek Carr, Daina (Lance) Kraai, Alexis Wyman, Kristi Thatcher, Ethan Mengerink, Lucas Mengerink, Noah (Kortnie) Mengerink, Meagan Ruddock, Alyssa Ruddock, Braeden Ruddock, Hannah (Dillon) Baer and Abbie Mengerink; great grandchildren, Myakah Kraai, Aiven Kraai, Syder Kraai, Wyatt Mengerink, Anthony Mengerink, Hudson Mengerink, Bristol Baer and Briggs Baer; brothers, Roger (Carol) Mengerink of Van Wert, Larry (Diane) Mengerink of Van Wert and Charles (Melanie) Mengerink of Ft Wayne; and a sister, Dorothy Agler of Ohio City. Linda S. Anderson

Linda Sue Anderson, 80, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her residence after a courageous 2½‑year battle with esophageal cancer. With broken hearts, her family said goodbye to a woman whose strength, grace, and devotion shaped their lives. She was born on February 5, 1946, at the family home in Wetzel to her late parents, C. C. "Pete" and Lela G. (Swartz) Hammons.

Linda graduated from Lincolnview High School in 1964 and retired from Federal Mogul after a dedicated 36‑year career. On February 12, 1966, she married the love of her life, Bill Anderson. Together they raised three children and shared a lifetime of cherished memories. After retirement, Linda and Bill enjoyed traveling and spending their golden years side by side. She attended Trinity Friends Church for more than 35 years and faithfully volunteered in the church nursery and at the church food pantry.

To Linda, nothing was more important than family. She adored her children and treasured her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her husband, Bill Anderson, of Van Wert; daughters, Kimberly (Brad) Saylor and Shelly (Roger) Smith, both of Van Wert; son, Bradley G. Anderson of Payne; sisters‑in‑law, Anna Hammons and Karen Hammons, both of Van Wert; Judy (Jerry) Sanders of Racine, WI; Sandi (Frank) Agler of Van Wert; Cindy Dawson of Willshire; eight grandchildren; seven great‑grandchildren and another on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Hammons and his wife, Chloris, Donald Hammons, and Neil Hammons; and her sister, Lois Christman, and her husband, Nick.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Alspach‑Gearhart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt McGovern presiding. Interment will follow in King Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the funeral, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Janet Mae Mohr

Janet M. Mohr, 92, of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, in Pendleton, Indiana. She was born on January 7, 1934, in Venedocia, Ohio, to Luther and Starley Williams, who preceded her in death.

On October 22, 1955, Janet married Byron Mohr. Together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage before Byron's passing. Janet was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Melody Hicks; her brother, Haydn Williams; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, David Mohr, Bob Stripe, Bill Fast, Dean Lichtensteiger, Bev and Phil Zimmerman, and Gloria Fast.

Janet is survived by her son, Marc L. Mohr (Jill) of Lapel, Indiana. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Megan (Tom) Starnes of Brownsburg, Indiana; Ashley Foster of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Evan (Kaitlin) Mohr of Georgetown, Kentucky; Isaac Mohr of Pendleton, Indiana; Cade (Lily) Mohr of Pendleton, Indiana; Mark (Amy) Hicks of Chicago, Illinois; and Tim Hicks of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was a proud and loving great-grandmother to Madden and Macy Starnes; Jaret (Taylor) Starnes; Sierra and Samantha Foster; Brooks and Berkley Mohr; Grace Adams; and Jerzy Hicks. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

Janet graduated from Van Wert High School and began her career as a secretary at Central Mutual Insurance Company. She later served the citizens of Van Wert as Deputy Clerk of the Van Wert Municipal Court, where she worked faithfully for 20 years.

Service to her community was one of Janet's greatest passions. She volunteered tirelessly as a Camp Fire Girls leader, was an active member of Twigs, and served on the YWCA Board of Directors for ten years. Janet established the YWCA travel program as a unique fundraiser and spent 43 years organizing and leading tours that raised thousands of dollars to support YWCA programs. She was also a faithful member of Trinity Global Methodist Church, where her faith and servant's heart were evident throughout her life.

Janet took immense pride in her family's rich heritage. As a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she devoted years to researching her Revolutionary War ancestry. Her extensive genealogical work uncovered family members who helped establish America in the 1600s, earning her the distinguished title of Grand Dame. She was equally proud of her Welsh heritage, traveling to Wales to meet relatives and sharing her knowledge through presentations on Welsh traditions. Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia, along with the friends and family connected to her Welsh roots, always held a special place in her heart.

Janet will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, dedication to family, commitment to her community, and love of history and heritage. Through her volunteer work, leadership, kindness, and encouragement, she enriched the lives of countless people. Her legacy of service, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 13, at Trinity Global Methodist Church in Van Wert with Pastor David To officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, July 12, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and again hour prior to the funeral on Monday, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the church.

Tiffany Howard, 42, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Van Wert, Ohio. She was born on August 12, 1983, in Lima, to Kenyon and Carolyn (Dickerson) Graham. Tiffany graduated from Bath High School and Apollo Career Center before earning her nursing degree from Rhodes State College. On June 2, 2010, she married her husband, Frank Nicholas Howard.

Tiffany loved the Lord and was a faithful part of The Forge Christian Ministries and The Forged of Fire Motorcycle Ministry family. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and crafting, often using her talents to create thoughtful gifts. She was known for her sweet, kind, and caring nature-a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and cherished friend.

She is survived by her husband, Frank N. Howard; her children, Clayton Ashton Bowers, Kellynn Quinn Howard, and Finley Nicole Howard, all of Van Wert; her parents, Kenyon and Carolyn Graham of Lima; her sister, Tabitha (Paul) Savage, and their children-Maddie, Kennedy, and Jax-of Johns Island, South Carolina; her sister, Ashlee (Spencer) McKim, and their children-Thea, Lilian, and John-of Terlton, Oklahoma; her father‑in‑law and mother‑in‑law, Frank and Patricia Howard of Van Wert; as well as her brothers and sisters in Christ at The Forge Christian Ministries.

Cathy Ann Krick

Cathy Ann Krick, 71, of Convoy, died Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Vancrest of Van Wert, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 22, 1954, at Van Wert County Hospital to her late parents, Carl Wilder and Valerie (Boxell) Wilder‑Laug. A 1972 graduate of Van Wert High School, Cathy worked at Teleflex for over 30 years.

One of Cathy's greatest joys in life was being a grandmother to her ten beloved grandchildren: Hayden, Hudson, Harper, Holden, Aurora, Sawyer, Ethan, Devon, Shayla, and Zach. Nothing brought her more happiness than cheering them on from the sidelines as they played the sports they loved. Whether it was basketball, baseball, softball, football, track, volleyball, soccer, or any other activity, she rarely missed an opportunity to watch them compete. She was their biggest fan-celebrating every victory, encouraging them through every challenge, and taking immense pride in each of their accomplishments. The memories made together at games and sporting events were among her most treasured, and her love and support will remain with her grandchildren for the rest of their lives.

Above all else, Cathy was a devoted and loving mother. Her daughters-Alicia, Jamie, and Aimee-were the center of her world, and she loved them with all her heart. While her family grieves the loss of her presence, they find comfort in knowing that Cathy has now been reunited in Heaven with her beloved daughter, Kelli, and her husband, Russ. That long‑awaited reunion brings peace, knowing they are together once again, embraced in perfect love.

Cathy shared an extraordinary bond with her sister, Shari, who was not only her sister but also her very best friend. They cherished spending time together-going out to eat, taking trips to the casino, or simply enjoying each other's company. Their friendship was filled with laughter, love, and countless memories that will be treasured forever. The closeness they shared was a true blessing and a beautiful example of the special connection only sisters can have.

Cathy was also blessed with lifelong friendship. Among those she cherished most was her oldest and dearest friend, Faye Trinosky. Their friendship was a testament to loyalty, love, and unwavering support through life's many seasons.

Michelle Hohman's caring heart, unwavering kindness, and constant presence meant the world to Cathy. Through every season of life, Michelle was a source of comfort, strength, and unconditional friendship. Her compassion, gentle spirit, and steadfast support brought joy during the good times and peace during the difficult ones.

Cathy treasured her family and friends and felt truly blessed to have them in her life. As she enters the gates of Heaven, she will be welcomed by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with her loved ones. She will be missed so very much by all who knew and loved her.

Cathy is survived by her daughters: Alicia (Andrew) Perrott of Convoy; Jamie (Mark) Mendell of California; and Aimee (Duane) Shears of Michigan; brother, Denny (Jane) Wilder of Celina; brother, Dean Wilder and sister, Shari Brooks, both of New Haven, Indiana; grandchildren: Hayden, Hudson, Harper, Holden, and Aurora Perrott; Sawyer, Ethan, and Devon Mendell; Shayla and Zach Shears; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cathy was preceded in death by her spouse, Russ Krick; daughter, Kelli McGinnis; sister, Renee Lehman as well as her parents, Valerie and Carl Wilder.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 9th, 2026 at Alspach‑Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Steve Haddix presiding. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 4 PM to 6 PM on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026 and again on Thursday from 10 AM to 11 AM at the funeral home.

Daniel D. Myers

Daniel D. Myers, born on June 15, 1969, in Decatur, Indiana, passed away on July 2, 2026, at home, at the age of 57.

Dan dedicated his professional life to the medical field, serving as the Lab Director at New Vision Medical Laboratories in Lima, Ohio. Known for his strong work ethic and exceptional leadership abilities, he inspired many throughout his career.

Dan was not only a respected professional but also a man of unwavering faith, actively serving as a member of Willshire Union United Methodist Church.

Outside of work, Dan was a passionate gun enthusiast who loved spending time working on the family property, maintaining his vehicles, and spending time with his wife and family. He took great pride in his various interests and shared his zest for life with those around him.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Tina Marie (Ohl) Myers of Ohio City; his mother, Caroline Ann Myers of Ohio City; his three sons, Dave (Becca) Myers of Parma, Ohio, James Myers of Van Wert and Brian (Rylee Miller) Myers of Newport News, Virginia; his brother, Tracey (Angie) Myers of Centerburg, Ohio; and his sisters, Deb (Danelle Harvey) McCoy of Ohio City and Becky (Brad) Heth of Ohio City. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, David C. Myers.
