💜 International Overdose Awareness Day 💜

Today, we remember those whose lives have been lost to overdose, stand with the families and friends who carry their memory, and recognize those who continue to struggle with substance use.

As first responders, we see firsthand the impact overdose can have on individuals, families, and our entire community. Every life matters, and every person deserves compassion, dignity, and the opportunity to receive help.

❗BIG NEWS! Expanded Scope of Practice is now active in the field❗
Thanks to the amazing work of our operations team, EMTs, and our medical director, Dr. Matthew Letizia, we can now administer Albuterol and check blood glucose levels, in addition to providing CPAP and PEEP.

This is a massive milestone that our team has worked tirelessly to achieve. Every EMT completed a rigorous exam and skills lab, to clear the way for this upgrade! Our operations team spent the past year collaborating with Dr. Letizia to make this happen. Hard work truly pays off.💪💥

What does this mean for our community?

🫁 Albuterol Sulfate via Nebulizer: We can now treat patients experiencing severe difficulty breathing or asthma attacks on the spot.

🩸 Blood Glucose Testing: Rapid testing allows our providers to deliver immediate, life-saving interventions for diabetic emergencies.

➕ CPAP & PEEP: We provide Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Positive End-Expiratory Pressure (PEEP) to help keep airways open and stabilize critical patients in severe respiratory distress.

What a busy Wednesday!🚑

Here's what we've been up to:

🚓 We kicked off the day with our local officers and fire departments, giving the younger generation a full picture of how we all work together as a team during real-world emergencies at the Jr. Police Academy!

🦸 After a quick lunch, we headed over to show off our superpowers at Summer4Kids Summer Camp Hero Appreciation Day.

We love giving these kids a behind-the-scenes look at what we do every day. More than anything, today was about showing the younger members of our community just how big of an impact they can make on the world. 🌍✨
