The last Wednesday of May is Spring’s National Senior Health and Fitness Day. Our staff got into the spirit last week, dressing in fitness clothes and encouraging residents to join in the day’s fitness classes by jumping in themselves. We knew our staff was strong — now we have the evidence! ✨💪✨

We got our DIY on in May — turning mason jars into summer vases! We love an excuse to let our creative spirits loose! 🌸

Something we love even more is embracing participation over perfection. A good diy craft can open the doors to those residents with a creative spirit who may not express it in a specific art form. This gets the fingers working, the creative juices flowing, and the friends together to craft side-by-side.

Did you see our post last week about the value of art for seniors? Well we wanted to give you a little glimpse into our Friday Expressionist Art Class with world-renowned community artist Abby. We are so lucky to have artists of this caliber in our community — especially one that shares her expertise with our residents. Any resident who is interested is welcome!

There is so much value in creative expression — increased dexterity, strengthening focus, and social connection. Plus making art floods our systems with all those “feel-good” neurochemicals like dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins ☺️
