Our friends at Free Rein in Spokane had to evacuate today. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17hP7DRWz3/?mibextid=wwXIfr Say a prayer that they make it through this fire πŸ”₯ safely and have a home to return to.

Due to the nearby fire on Upriver Drive and the current evacuation alert, Free Rein has activated our evacuation plan and relocated our horses to a safe off-site location.

The safety of our herd and staff is our highest priority. We are grateful to share that everyone is safe, and our horses have been successfully evacuated.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your support, understanding, and concern during this time.

Congratulations to Matthew from your Friends at Blue Mountain Therapeutic Riding!

πŸŽ“ Senior Spotlight: Matthew Vawter πŸŽ“

For the past four years, Matthew Vawter has been a cherished part of the Walla Walla Catholic Schools family, bringing joy, enthusiasm, and a spirit that has touched many within the DeSales community and now he is preparing to bring those attributes to the graduation stage with the Class of 2026! During his time at DeSales, Matthew participated in school retreats, assemblies, drama class, PE class, and Students for Life, embracing opportunities to connect, learn, and be involved in school life.

Among Matthew’s favorite memories is a birthday celebration he will never forget. On his 16th birthday, he arrived at school in a firetruck and was greeted by the entire student body, all dressed in his favorite color β€” orange. It was a day that made him feel deeply loved and celebrated, creating a memory that will stay with him for years to come.

As Matthew completes this school year, his family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the students, staff, and teachers who made him feel like a true part of the DeSales family. The friendships and relationships built throughout the years are precious and irreplaceable. They would also like to offer a special thank you to Fr. Seidel, Mrs. Guest, Mr. Rhode, and Mr. H for the care, support, and sense of belonging they provided.

Matthew’s years at WWCS have been marked by meaningful connections and moments of joy, and we are grateful for the impact he has made on our school community. We wish Matthew many blessings and happiness in all that lies ahead. πŸ€πŸ’š

We are deeply grateful to the Wildhorse Foundation for awarding Blue Mountain Therapeutic Riding a $3,000 grant restricted to horse feed.

This grant was requested in support of our Healing with Horses program, where horses help create a safe, supportive space for connection, healing, and growth. Keeping our horses healthy and well-fed is foundational to every life-changing moment that happens here.

Thank you, Wildhorse Foundation, for helping care for the horses who care for our community. πŸ’™πŸ΄
