Did you know chlorine can continue sitting on your child's skin and hair long after they get out of the pool?

One of my favorite simple summer wellness tips is using Vitamin C after swimming. 🍊

Vitamin C helps neutralize chlorine residue left behind on the skin and hair, which may help reduce dryness, irritation, and that lingering "pool smell."

Our simple pool-day routine:

💦 Quick rinse with fresh water
🍊 Vitamin C spray
🌿 Moisturizer if needed

This can be especially helpful for kiddos with sensitive skin, eczema, or those who practically live in the pool all summer long.

OCD at its finest... or maybe just a little boy trying to make sense of his world. ❤️

The other night my mom walked into the bathroom and found this.

Every cup lined up.
Every towel placed just right.
The pirate ship perfectly positioned.

Nothing could be touched.

My mom looked at Brix and said, "Well, how am I supposed to get in the shower?"

Without missing a beat, he replied:

"Just jump." 🤪🤣

We all got a good laugh, but moments like this remind me of something I talk about often with parents.

Sometimes what looks like being stubborn, controlling, or difficult isn't really any of those things.

Sometimes it's anxiety.

Sometimes it's sensory processing.

Sometimes it's a need for predictability.

Sometimes it's a child whose nervous system feels safest when things stay exactly the way they arranged them.

As parents, it can be frustrating in the moment. But it also gives us a glimpse into how our children experience the world.

And honestly?

Sometimes we just have to admire the creativity of a little boy who built a complete obstacle course around a bathtub and expected N***y to hurdle it. 😂

Anyone else have a child who insists things be arranged a certain way?

One thing I've learned both as a provider and as a mom navigating chronic health concerns is that sometimes the pieces of the puzzle aren't where we expect them to be.

For many children struggling with PANS/PANDAS, chronic inflammation, headaches, anxiety, brain fog, sleep challenges, behavioral changes, or immune dysregulation, we often focus on infections, gut health, nutrition, and nervous system regulation. But it's also important to consider what might be happening in the environment around them.

Mold exposure can be a trigger for children and may contribute to inflammation and immune system dysregulation. While not all kiddos, but so many, with PANS/PANDAS is dealing with mold so it's worth digging deeper and getting yall to help to ensure a missing piece to the puzzle is not missed.

I love seeing resources like this available to families because many times finding answers means looking beyond traditional testing and considering the whole picture!!!

If you've ever wondered whether your home environment could be playing a role in your child's symptoms, K9 Mold Patrol and Scout may be worth checking out. K9 Mold Patrol

Healing often requires us to become detectives, one clue at a time. 🤍

For parents navigating PANS/PANDAS, flare-ups can feel sudden, overwhelming, and unpredictable.

Environmental triggers — especially hidden mold exposure — may intensify inflammation in sensitive children. Mold exposure has been linked to immune dysregulation, nervous system irritation, sleep disruption, headaches, brain fog, anxiety, mood swings, and increased inflammatory responses… all symptoms that can overlap with or worsen PANS/PANDAS struggles.

If your child seems to improve outside the home, worsens in certain rooms, or has unexplained symptom spikes, it may be worth looking deeper into the environment around them.

At K9 Mold Patrol, our trained mold detection dog, Scout, helps locate hidden mold quickly and non-invasively — because answers matter when your child’s health is on the line.

Getting dirty might be one of the healthiest things you do today 🌱. Your body isn’t meant to live in a sterile bubble - exposure to soil introduces beneficial microbes that help support a strong, balanced gut! This is called your MICROBIOME. Playing in the dirt, gardening, or just getting outside can: help support immune health, improve gut diversity, reduce inflammation, even boost mood! Nature isn’t something to avoid- it’s something your body needs. This summer kick off your shoes, dig in the garden, let your kids get messy - your microbiome will thank you 👩🏼‍🌾 🪴
