We would like to introduce you to the Founder and CEO of Doc-Side Medical Billing.

“I’ve always believed entrepreneurship is about so much more than building a successful business. It’s about recognizing opportunities, finding solutions, investing in people, and creating something that makes a lasting difference.”

Daun’s journey began in healthcare administration and practice management, where she saw firsthand how much time, energy, and financial stress the business side of healthcare created for providers, and knew there was an opportunity to do things differently.

That experience became the foundation for Doc-Side Medical Billing.
What started as a passion for helping healthcare providers has grown into a full-service revenue cycle management company with a team of professionals who share that same commitment.

“As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that building a business isn’t just about having a great idea. It’s about being willing to take risks, make difficult decisions, adapt, and surround yourself with people who bring different strengths to the table.”

“I believe in creating opportunities for others to grow, empowering people to become leaders, and building businesses that can thrive beyond any one individual.”

Today, that vision extends beyond Doc-Side. Through Elevate, Daun is working to make revenue cycle technology, education, and operational support more accessible to practices across the country.
What motivates her most hasn’t changed.

“I don’t measure success by revenue alone. I measure it by the opportunities we create, the people we impact, and what we’re building for the future. I’m proud of what we’ve built, grateful for the people building it alongside me, and excited about where we’re headed.”

Meet Amy!

“My name is Amy, I was born and raised in Soldotna Alaska. I love all things outdoors, my favorite summertime activities are mountain climbing and mountain biking. My parents pastor here in Soldotna, so I do a lot of community events and working in the music department mainly. I love serving the community and being as active in the lives of those around me as I can.

I got started in medical coding years ago, I worked as a bank teller and a friend of mine worked as a manager of a local clinic, she assumed banking and billing were the same thing and hired me on.. they are worlds apart. I learned the basics of billing for about 3 months with no real trainer, when the clinic lost all their medical coders. I was suddenly the main person doing all their coding and so they sent me to some training boot camps and I fell in love with breaking down chart notes and finding the correct codes.

I later put myself through the AAPC schooling and got my CPC.
I applied with Doc-Side and had the absolute best interview experience I have ever had. Kera didn’t ask me all of the interview questions you would expect, she talked to me like I actually mattered and asked questions that made me feel like I could open up and just talk to a friend.

I have loved working for Doc-Side because of the family, community feel that we have here. The team members work together, everyone is so kind and willing to help each other. I appreciate Daun’s vision to grow us and expand the company and by doing so has invested in us.
I am excited to see Doc-Side grow and take on more clients, there is so much value in having a team work together for the clients we have to make sure they are successful- its invaluable. Daun and Kera truly put their hearts into this company.”

The details behind why prior authorization is needed for your private practice.

Growth looks different depending on what it’s built on.

A dependent practice grows by doing more. More patients, more hours, more on the owner’s plate. The revenue cycle runs because one or two people hold it all in their heads, and when they’re out, things slow down.

A scaling practice grows with structure. Processes are documented, numbers are reviewed regularly, and more than one person understands how money moves through the practice. Growth adds revenue, not just pressure.

So here’s the question worth sitting with: is your practice growing, or just getting busier?

Ehrin has already made such a difference on our team, and our clients are lucky to have her in their corner. We’ll let her introduce herself.

“I was born and raised in Alaska. During the summer you will usually find me outside with my family taking pictures, paddleboarding or simply enjoying the beautiful scenery this state has to offer. As a Billing Specialist with Doc-Side I love the problem-solving side of my work and figuring out how to put all the detailed puzzle pieces together to make things work smoothly.

I joined Doc-Side almost seven years ago, shortly after graduating from school for medical billing and coding. While attending school part time and earning my certifications, I worked at a small local café and a local retail store.

Since joining Doc-Side, my role has continued to evolve, which is something I truly value. I’ve had the opportunity to learn new aspects of our field, grow professionally and take on new challenges along the way.

Being part of the Doc-Side team has impacted my life in some of the best ways. It has allowed me to grow and flourish both personally and professionally in ways I never imagined, and I am grateful for the experiences, opportunities and people who have been a part of that journey.”

When practices first reach out to us, it’s usually because billing is frustrating them. What surprises them is how many questions we ask about everything else.

Our background is in practice management, so we never look at billing on its own. We look at your front desk, your patient flow, your documentation, and the business side of your practice, like credentialing and office operations. Everything is connected, and the strongest solutions come from seeing the whole picture.

Because you deserve a partner who understands how your practice actually runs, not just how your claims get submitted.

Rejection vs. denial: they sound the same, but they’re not.

When your practice submits a claim electronically, it usually doesn’t go straight to the insurance company. First, it passes through a clearinghouse.

Think of the clearinghouse as a quality-control checkpoint. It “scrubs” the claim, reviewing it for errors before passing it along to the payer.
If something’s off, the claim comes back to you for correction. That’s a rejection.

Here’s what matters: a rejected claim never reached the insurance company. Nothing has been decided. You still have the opportunity to correct the issue, resubmit, and send the payer a clean claim that moves through processing without unnecessary delays.

Knowing which one you’re looking at changes how you respond and how quickly you get paid.

What does it mean when your claim is “in review”?

We know it’s frustrating. There are a lot of factors, and most of them are outside your control.

But this is where systems matter.
