Did you know that Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Osteoarthritis (OA) are not the same thing? 🤔

🔹 Osteoarthritis is the “wear and tear” type of arthritis that happens when cartilage in the joints gradually breaks down over time. It commonly affects knees, hips, hands, and the spine and is often related to aging, previous injuries, or repetitive stress.

🔹 Rheumatoid Arthritis, on the other hand, is an autoimmune disease. This means the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the lining of the joints, causing inflammation, pain, swelling, stiffness, and fatigue. RA often affects joints on both sides of the body equally and can impact people at any age.

While both conditions can cause joint pain and stiffness, treatment approaches can differ significantly.

✅ Physical therapy can help both OA and RA patients by improving mobility, reducing pain, increasing strength, and helping people stay active safely.

At Homestead Physical Therapy, we’re here to help you move better and live better — no matter what type of arthritis you’re facing. 💙

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us of the true meaning of courage, freedom, and selflessness.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, may we also take a moment to reflect with gratitude for those who made those moments possible.

From all of us at Homestead Physical Therapy, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward.

What is Osteoarthritis? 🦴

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and happens when the protective cartilage in a joint gradually wears down over time. This can lead to:
✔ Joint pain
✔ Stiffness
✔ Swelling
✔ Reduced mobility
✔ Difficulty with daily activities

Common areas affected include the knees, hips, hands, neck, and lower back.

The good news? Movement is medicine. Physical therapy can help reduce pain, improve strength and flexibility, and keep joints moving more efficiently.

At Homestead Physical Therapy, we create personalized treatment plans to help patients stay active, mobile, and independent despite arthritis.

You don’t have to simply “live with” joint pain. 💙

Keep moving forward!!

At Homestead Physical Therapy, we create personalized treatment plans to help patients manage arthritis safely and effectively.
