Two leaders making a difference for our team and the communities we serve.

Congratulations to Jeremy Desotell, our Director of Operations, on being named an AAMS “40 Under 40” honoree! This national recognition celebrates emerging leaders making meaningful contributions to medical transport.

We’re also proud to recognize Brad Goch, our Hartford and Neenah Base Manager, who was nominated for this honor. Brad’s leadership in bringing our programs together, supporting aircraft transitions, and leading fleet standardization has helped strengthen Flight For Life - ThedaStar.

Jeremy and Brad have both played important roles in guiding our program through significant growth and change. Their dedication to our crews, commitment to safety, and focus on patient care make a difference every day.

Please join us in congratulating Jeremy on his award and thanking both Jeremy and Brad for their leadership. We’re so fortunate to have them on our team!

The care our team provides became personal when one of our own needed help.

While arriving in Fort Worth, Texas, for the Air Medical Transport Conference, our Safety Officer, Tim Stutzman, experienced a serious allergic reaction that caused swelling in his eyes, tongue, and throat, making it difficult to speak.

Our team recognized that something was wrong and immediately stepped in to help, care for him, and call 911. Fort Worth Fire & EMS responded quickly and transported him to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, where the emergency department continued his care.

We are grateful to Erin, Dani R., Kenzie, Kelly, Nick L, Nick H,, Bridgette, and Dawn, an emergency department nurse, for their quick response and compassion. Thank you also to Leif, Jeremy, Terry, and everyone who continued checking in and offering support—and to the Fort Worth responders and hospital staff who cared for him.

After nearly 40 years in public safety, Tim found himself on the receiving end of the care he has spent his career supporting.

In his words: “I cannot say enough about how much it all meant to me.”

Today, we welcomed Senator Chris Kapenga and staff members from the offices of Rep. Adam Neylon and Senator Julian Bradley to Flight For Life – ThedaStar Headquarters at Crites Field in Waukesha.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase our operations and discuss the important role air medical transport plays throughout Wisconsin. With our headquarters in Waukesha, Flight For Life – ThedaStar is proud to serve communities across the region, providing rapid access to advanced critical care when emergencies demand specialized medical resources.

Our crews work alongside local EMS agencies, fire departments, and healthcare partners to support emergency response efforts and transport critically ill and injured patients. Through these partnerships, we help connect patients with the specialized care they need while supporting the emergency medical services that communities across Wisconsin rely on every day.

Thank you to Senator Kapenga and the staff from Representative Neylon’s and Senator Bradley’s offices for taking the time to visit our team, learn more about our operations, and recognize the important role air medical transport plays in serving Wisconsin.

A safety reminder for our partners in care—EMS agencies, hospitals, and dispatch centers.

When a medical helicopter provider declines a flight because of weather or another safety concern, contacting additional providers to find one that will accept is called “helicopter shopping.” Without clear communication, this can put patients and crews at risk.

If you contact another air medical provider, always share that the flight was previously declined and explain why. This information helps the next crew make a fully informed safety decision.

Weather, flight routes, and aircraft capabilities can differ between providers, so another assessment may be appropriate. However, a previous safety concern should always be part of that conversation.
