Chester County ACEs Coalition

Chester County ACEs Coalition The study found that the greater number of adverse childhood experiences the greater the possibility of disabilities and dysfunction in adult life.

The Chester County ACEs Coalition's mission is to increase the county's awareness, knowledge, and education on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma, and toxic stress, as well as focus on hope and resiliency in order to offset the cycle of trauma. The Adverse Childhood Experience Study (ACES) is the largest and first research study that established a direct association between childhood tra

uma and adult ill health. The Chester County ACEs Coalition is a collective impact initiative to bring awareness, knowledge, prevention, and initiatives throughout the county on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma, and toxic-stress. Building resiliency and fostering hope can offset the cycle of trauma as well as contribute to long-term health benefits, bringing strength to our communities.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember those who lost their lives in military service. 🇺🇸

We also recognize that for many, this day carries deep emotional weight—grief, remembrance, and reflection.

A trauma-informed approach reminds us that experiences connected to service and loss can have lasting impacts on individuals, families, and communities.

As we remember, may we also extend care and support to those who are grieving and to those who continue to carry the impact of loss.

Talking about mental health shouldn’t feel uncomfortable—it should feel normal.

Start small:
“Hey, how have you been—really?”
“I’m here if you want to talk.”

Want to feel more confident having these conversations? Consider attending a **Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)** training through the Su***de Prevention Partnership.

QPR teaches you how to:
✔ Recognize warning signs of su***de
✔ Ask someone directly if they need help
✔ Connect them to appropriate support and resources

Just like CPR, QPR equips everyday people to respond in critical moments.

You don’t need the perfect words—just the willingness to show up and learn.

Children don’t always have the words to explain what they’re feeling—but their behavior tells a story.

Trauma-informed parenting means:
💬 Listening without judgment
🧠 Understanding stress responses
💛 Creating safety and consistency

You don’t have to be perfect—being present matters most.

Interested in learning more? We invite you to attend our upcoming Lunch & Learn next Wednesday May 27th at 12pm as Jennie-Tapia Messa from UnSurviving Int'l presents on understanding and healing our children by understanding and healing ourselves.
