Hospital systems are finally pushing back and some of them are in a fight for their lives. Hospitals around the country are closing as reimbursement rates drop, insurance companies get richer, and doctors see more and more patients in less and less time for less and less money. We may be seeing a tipping point…

Direct Primary Cares are the way to go if you want a different relationship with your primary physician. Better access, more time, a deeper relationship. When I first opened my practice here in West Chester, PA, my younger brother, who is software guy out in Silicon Valley, was like why would people pay more on top of their insurance? But now… he goes to a DPC doc and is finally getting the level of care that he was looking for! 🙌🥰

Hospice doesn’t mean we are giving up. Hospice actually can save lives and even if someone has a terminal diagnosis, hospice can improve the quality of their life.

I’ve gotten this question from a number of prospective patients who have health insurance, but are interested in joining a Direct Primary Care practice for better access and more time with a physician, so I thought I’d share it here.

As insurance companies reduce reimbursement, hospitals have started losing money and the push to get patients out as quickly as possible has become more and more intense. Collectively, hospitals lose billions in denied claims every year and we see hospitals closing left and right and more to close on the horizon. So sick patients become hot potatoes and are turfed back out into the outpatient world where they are left to navigate a broken system. It’s a nightmare, especially for a family going through a serious medical event.
