This Global Fatty Liver Day, we are raising awareness of MASLD and MASH— conditions that affect millions of people worldwide.
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the buildup of extra fat in liver cells that is not caused by alcohol. As the most common form of liver disease, it often develops silently without noticeable symptoms. MASLD can progress to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a more severe condition characterized by inflammation of the liver and liver damage.
Increasing awareness of risk factors, along with the importance of screening and early detection, can make a meaningful difference.
