Above + Beyond Cancer Cycle Club meets in Waukee tonight!

Plan to meet at the corner of Hickman and NW 10th Street in Waukee at the Raccoon River Valley Trailhead. We’ll plan to ride to Dallas Center with a stop at the Corner Cone. Some may choose to go on to Minburn and back. The ride is an out and back so riders can turn around anywhere and not get lost. Look for Rob in his Above + Beyond Cancer red shirt, because he is leading the ride!

See you tonight at 5:30!

Time is running out to sign up for our young adult survivor June event - Healing Art!

Art Therapy Workshop: Tuesday, June 9th, 5:30 pm to 7:30pm
Mercy One Health & Fitness Center,

Theme: Decision Fatigue

Decision Fatigue (an impairment of making quality decisions after a long, intense period of decision making) can lead cancer survivors to feeling overwhelmed, procrastination, irritability and fatigue. A cancer diagnosis comes along with all sorts of decisions, big and small; a patient needs to make - sometimes quickly and sometimes heavily.

In this Art Therapy Workshop - the art making prompt was intentionally planned to alleviate you from "performance pressure" to make "good art" or "decision burn out" such as selecting what to sketch or paint. The art will be collaging and mood boards, designed to allow patients to receive guidance, support, emotional release, some witty humor, and calming and centering benefits of art-making, without any added pressure. Survivors will leave group feeling supported, validated, comforted, and relaxed. This workshop is complimentary to cancer survivors and there is no cost. Snacks will be provided.
