A Beautiful Day in Gloucester 🎨🌊 Our residents recently enjoyed a wonderful day trip to historic Gloucester, beginning with a visit to the new exhibit, “Avery, Gottlieb & Rothko—By the Sea,” at the Cape Ann Museum.

This gem of a museum provided the perfect setting to explore the works and connections of these celebrated artists. With beautiful weather to enjoy, the group continued their day with a visit to Pavilion Beach, where they relaxed by the water and enjoyed boxed lunches specially prepared by our talented Fox Hill Village chefs.

Author and Fox Hill resident Mimi Baird followed in her mother's footsteps when choosing Fox Hill for herself, and appreciates the freedom she has to live life on her own terms while still being part of a supportive community. "Here, I find you can be who you are and do things you enjoy," she says. "I am currently working with people in Hollywood on turning my book into a film, so I'm not as involved in the daily activities of the community. But it's OK. You can retreat into your own world or immerse yourself in the community — or some combination of both. It's always up to you."

With summer in full swing, Birch Grove residents put on their sun hats and celebrated the season in true island style. A Hawaiian-inspired celebration included tropical drinks, colorful leis, delicious treats, and even a hula hoop competition that had everyone smiling and cheering each other on. At Fox Hill Village, every birthday is a reason to celebrate, but reaching your 90s calls for something special. We recently gathered in Fox Hill's main dining room where these nonagenarians were honored and celebrated with a delicious chef-prepared meal, beautiful flowers, birthday cake, and warm conversation. We were especially delighted to celebrate one resident who turned 95 and wore her “95” crown with humor and charm. We wish all these wonderful 90s residents a very happy birthday!

Earlier this year, our "Bloom into Fitness" event gave Birch Grove residents an opportunity to dig into one of their favorite hobbies — gardening — while combining it with movement, friendship, fun, and a healthy dose of sunshine. Participants were all smiles as they exercised their green thumbs and enjoyed working together on an outdoor project that will continue to bring joy all summer long.

Maintaining a regular exercise program is important for older adults who want to enjoy an active, independent lifestyle. To reduce your risk of falling, it helps to do strength and balance exercises. What a wonderful evening we had at Fox Hill Village with the WestwoodWinds! Our August outdoor concert brought residents together for another beautiful night of music, food, and summer fun.

The concert was also part of our Summer Cookout Series, which has featured a wonderful variety of music throughout the summer—from a mariachi band and steel drums to last night’s performance by the WestwoodWinds. 🎺🥁🎷
