We are all about helping people experience some "firsts" in their lives, and for half of this group from the Gateway Program, it was their first visit to the Kansas State Fair! They got to see livestock, visit the education buildings and - of course- enjoy some rides.

Five out of five stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We will be back for sure!

✅ Watching feeding time at the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit
✅ Delivering goodies to Sedgwick County Fire District 1
✅ Grilling burgers at our apartments 🍔
✅ Getting an impromptu makeover! 💄

Direct support professionals are known by many titles: Community Living Trainer, Behavior Support Specialist, Program Trainer, Work Trainer, Community Employment Specialist, CNA, Personal Care Attendant, Health Services Scheduler, Appointment Clerk, Bus Driver.

What they all have in common is their commitment and passion. They teach, support, encourage, advise and show up as a consistent and valued presence in the lives of those we serve.

This is Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week, a special week during which we celebrate the employees who provide personal care and support to the individuals with disabilities we serve at Starkey. These are the professionals who work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure that people are safe, supported and encouraged. We are so grateful they chose this career!

A big THANK YOU to the outstanding volunteers from Maize South High School who spent time at our Keystone homes this morning for their Day of Giving. They cleaned out garages and threw away broken furniture, power washed homes and assembled new patio furniture.

What a fantastic crew of students! They got right to work and accomplished a to-do list that has needed to be tackled for a long time. ✨ We appreciate you so much!

Today, our nation marks the solemn 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Many of those who died that day were first responders who ran toward danger to help in any way they could.

The individuals we serve consistently show their appreciation for those who give of themselves to save and protect others. Their gratitude for firefighters and police officers is expressed in tangible ways, through handmade cards, baked goods and donation drives.

We remember. 🇺🇸

This time, they explored all that Botanica has to offer, including a monarch butterfly that chose Brandi to temporarily be her mode of transport. 🦋

In 2026, the Mid-America All-Indian Museum is celebrating 50 years of honoring Native American artists and communities in Wichita and across the region. We enjoy the opportunity to be hands-on with learning about traditional instruments and tools from the Native American culture.
