Humboldt General Hospital Ambulance and Rescue HGH EMS Rescue provides advanced life support services to approximately 19,000 residents.

For over 35 years, HGH EMS Rescue has been the exclusive provider of 24-hour emergency medical services across 10,000 square miles in Humboldt County, Nevada; parts of Pershing County and Lander County, Nevada; and the lower portion of the State of Oregon. In all, HGH EMS Rescue provides advanced life support services to approximately 19,000 residents with a fleet of 8 ambulances and two rescue units. Crews fight for life in the harshest of conditions including dense sagebrush, mountainous sand dunes, unpaved roads and weather conditions that can quickly turn sour. Our staff includes more than 50 paramedics, EMS RNs, emergency medical technicians, intermediates and basics who stand ready to help in the event of a medical crisis. Join our upcoming Community EMT Course, where you'll learn the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to provide emergency medical care. The course runs from the end of September through the end of January, meeting two days each week to accommodate busy schedules.

๐„๐ฑ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐“๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐„๐Œ๐’!

Last week our HGH EMS crew practiced vehicle extrication to stay prepared for the challenging situations they may face in the field. These hands-on training sessions help responders become familiar with specialized tools and techniques used to safely remove patients from vehicles after a crash.

This training also strengthens communication, teamwork, and coordination, between our crew, helping them work efficiently when every second counts. By practicing different accident scenarios, our EMS teams can prepare for unexpected events and build the skills needed to safely reach and care for patients during an emergency.

Extrication training like this shows the dedication our team has not only when answering the call, but also in the time they spend training and preparing for it.

EMS joined Living Stones Church at their Care Fair this week to help teach kids about car seat safety.

EMS taught children and their families the importance of having a car seat that is just the right fit for them. EMS also provided free car seat checks for families too.

This is just one of the many ways EMS likes to reach out to the community to keep them both educated and safe.

Thank you, Living Stones Church, for inviting us to the Care Fair. We hope that every child who showed up has a great school year and remembers to buckle up!

Our HGH EMS crews recently had the opportunity to visit the Boys & Girls Club Early Learning Center and give preschool students an up-close look at what their job looks like.

The team showed the children around an ambulance and heavy rescue vehicle, giving them a fun and hands-on introduction to the equipment and vehicles our EMS crews use to serve our community.

Opportunities like this are a great way to introduce the next generation to EMS, help them learn about what they do, and make that learning experience fun and memorable. It's just one of the many way EMS likes to give back to the community. Who knows we may even be training them in the future!

Each year, a procession travels across the country to honor EMS providers who lost their lives in the line of duty while serving their communities. Beginning the journey in California and ending in Arlington, Virginia, this traveling memorial stands as a powerful tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of those who answered the call to help others.

From June through July, the moving honors procession makes dozens of stops across the United States. At each stop, local agencies hold formal ceremonies where the names of fallen EMS providers are read aloud in remembrance. Honor guards stand watch, emergency vehicles line the streets, and fellow providers gather together to pay their respects.

The journey concludes in Arlington, Virginia, during the National EMS Weekend of Honors on July 17โ€“19, 2026. This weekend is dedicated to honoring the lives, service, and sacrifice of EMS professionals who gave everything in the care of others.

Their impact continues to live on through the communities they served, the families they cared for, and the fellow providers who carry their memory forward.
