To our incredible community - we wanted to share that our beautiful mural by Elyse Doyle-Martinez now has a permanent home on Main Street. Thank you to Elyse for this gift not just for us but for ALL of woodland.

The motive, Erik Daniells believes, is rooted in an incident at the pharmacy last week when a local online provocateur entered Corner Drug Co. after seeing a store display featuring LGBTQ+ flags and started badgering staff.

OFFICIAL UPDATE FROM WOODLAND’S ORIGINAL CORNER STORE.

1. First, we all want to extend our gratitude to our community for the incredible support. You are all AMAZING. We have been doing every interview imaginable for the last 24 hours and I tell everyone - “Hate is NOT Woodland. Woodland is INCREDIBLE.” Don’t let the actions of an extremely vocal but small (in multiple ways) group of people let you think otherwise. You have all showed up.

2. Many people ask how they can help. Visiting our stores Corner Drug and The Pleasant Pheasant Bookstore this week makes us so happy. We have many gift items for sale and try to have something for everyone. Thank you to everyone for bringing us flowers, treats for our staff. I’m a fighter but they don’t deserve to deal with all of this.

3. People have asked if we could start a GoFundMe. We haven’t done that yet, we have mixed feelings about accepting money from the community. At this point we encourage people to donate to amazing groups like Elevate Q***r Yolo: Lgbtqia+ Youth & Young Adult Services, NAMI Yolo County and Davis Phoenix Coalition. Or pick your favorite nonprofit. We may revisit a fund but we just want to fix this window and get some nice things for our team members.

4. Do we have cameras? Yes. The perpetrator was masked but we are Investigating the path they took to the pharmacy. If you have cameras on Main or 1st we’d love to see your footage.

5. The glass will be getting replaced soon but we are so honored that artist Elyse Doyle-Martinez has offered to paint a mural on the board while we wait. Thank you to Christy at Mojo's Lounge & Bar for connecting us.

POTENTIAL HATE CRIME IN WOODLAND, CALIFORNIA?

Early this morning the window of our family pharmacy was smashed and anti gay slurs were painted on them.

To the person that did this: we can fix a window but you will always be broken. (I can also see you started to have some trouble with spelling, always practice on a sheet of paper first)

We documented the damage and cleaned up the scene this morning as a family with lots of good humor and teamwork.

Thank you to our community for checking in with us and visiting our stores.

We will be donating to several local LGBT nonprofits including Elevate Q***r Yolo: Lgbtqia+ Youth & Young Adult Services and Davis Phoenix Coalition this week as a direct result of this hate. You did this.

An attack on us is an attack on our community and this will make us stronger together.

Thank you for all the kind words, encouragement and support while our son Luke has been in the NICU. We are very happy (and relieved) to share that he is finally home. Welcome the newest edition (I mean ADDITION) to the Corner Drug Co and The Pleasant Pheasant Bookstore family.

Hello friends. July has been one of the most monumental times of our life, not only have we finally moved our bookstore to its new location on Main, we welcomed our son, Luke to the world. He’s a very sweet boy and has been requiring extra medical attention so will be a NICU baby for the time being. While a challenging time for our family we are so fortunate to have him in our lives. Thank you to all who have supported us with this move and our growing family.
