📣 New at Cottage Hospital: Pain Management Services!

Cottage Hospital is excited to expand access to specialty care close to home with the launch of our new Pain Management Department, beginning Thursday, September 10!

Pain Management services will be provided by Frank Valenti, MS, CRNA, NSPM-C, who will be onsite at Cottage Hospital on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Pain management can help patients experiencing persistent or recurring pain find treatment options designed to improve comfort, mobility, function, and overall quality of life. Services will include treatment for:

• Lower back and neck pain
• Headaches
• Joint pain
• Musculoskeletal disorders
• And more!

Available procedures will include facet joint injections, epidural steroid injections, trigger point injections, radiofrequency ablation, Iovera® cryoanalgesia, nerve blocks, ultrasound-guided regional injections, and more.

Outside referrals are welcome! Cottage Hospital providers can submit referrals through Referral Management, and healthcare providers throughout the region can refer patients to our new Pain Management services.

🏥 Cottage Hospital Welcomes Senator Jeanne Shaheen

Cottage Hospital recently welcomed U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen for a visit and conversation about the future of healthcare in our rural community.

During her visit, we discussed several important facility improvement projects, including a project for which Senator Shaheen was instrumental in helping Cottage Hospital secure federal funding for FY26. We also discussed future improvements to our Operating Room Suite and HVAC systems, along with some of the broader challenges facing rural hospitals, healthcare providers, emergency services, and the communities they serve.

These investments are an important part of our ongoing work to modernize Cottage Hospital and ensure our facilities continue to meet the needs of our patients, providers, and staff for many years to come.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share Cottage Hospital’s priorities and discuss how continued investment in rural healthcare can help us provide high-quality care close to home.

We’re pleased to welcome Kathleen Killeen, MSW, MPA, LICSW, MLDAC, QCSW, CAADC, ACSW, CMT, to the Cottage Hospital team!

Kathleen brings an incredible 45 years of experience in the field of social work, with a career spanning a wide variety of clinical and community settings. Her experience includes work within the New Jersey prison system, Philadelphia methadone clinics, outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care, gerontology, burn units, child welfare and abuse investigations, private practice, head trauma care, and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams.

Kathleen also has extensive experience in substance use treatment and holds dual licensure in clinical social work and drug and alcohol counseling across multiple states. In 2015, she combined two of her passions—behavioral health and music—by creating a music therapy program at a Philadelphia methadone clinic. The program was featured in Social Work Today in an article titled “Recovery Sings.”

Music is a big part of her life professionally and outside of her work—she plays multiple string instruments, and considers voice and guitar her favorites. Fun Fact: she owns more than 30 guitars!

With decades of diverse experience and a passion for helping others, Kathleen brings a wealth of knowledge to our team and the patients we serve.

We’re excited to welcome Erin Loskutoff, APRN, an Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, to the Cottage Hospital team!

Erin has been practicing since 2009 and is a graduate of the Yale University School of Nursing. Her passion for caring for adults and older adults was shaped in part by her time serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mongolia from 2002–2004. During her two years there, Erin saw firsthand the care, attention, and respect given to adults and older members of the community—an experience that inspired her to bring that same thoughtful approach to her own practice.

As a local, Erin was drawn to Cottage Hospital by the opportunity to serve the community she calls home. She values the personal connections that come with practicing in a rural setting and looks forward to providing compassionate, community-based care to patients throughout our region.

We were pleased to recently welcome U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan to Cottage Hospital and the Rowe Health Center!

During her visit, Senator Hassan toured the Rowe Health Center, Ray of Hope, Emergency Department, and Medical-Surgical Unit, meeting with members of our team and learning more about the care and services we provide to our rural communities.

The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss important issues impacting rural healthcare, including the 340B Drug Pricing Program, emergency preparedness, and Senator Hassan’s bipartisan Rural Obstetrics Readiness Act.

Senator Hassan concluded her visit with members of our senior leadership team to discuss the challenges facing rural hospitals and the continued need for accessible, high-quality healthcare close to home.

We appreciate Senator Hassan taking the time to visit, listen, and learn more about Cottage Hospital and the communities we are proud to serve!
