"Have you ever considered that the wisdom we seek might not be something we reach for, but rather something we sink into?
Two distinct ancient traditions offer a beautiful perspective on the nature of the divine, or the Light, and its true location.
The Pistis Sophia, an early Gnostic Christian text, tells the story of Sophia. Having journeyed through darkness and separation, she awakens to a profound truth: the Light never truly left her. Her path back to wholeness is through repetition—a mantra: “For the Light is with me, and I myself am with the Light.” In her meditation, this simple statement becomes the bridge connecting her to her higher self, to the Divine within.
From a different wellspring of ancient wisdom, the Chandogya Upanishad, comes a similar concept. It describes the body as the 'city of Brahman' and the heart as a lotus. Within this lotus, it tells us, is a small inner space we are called to seek and understand. But here is the profound twist: although described as tiny, this inner space is as vast as the universe itself. Spiritually, it's where our individual consciousness and something truly limitless meet.
Both traditions point inward, revealing that what appears small and individual actually opens into something boundless. Instead of imagining the Light as external, these wisdom sources suggest: Go inward. There is a doorway in the heart.
This ancient intuition connects beautifully with modern understanding of heart coherence. By quieting the analytical mind, placing our awareness in the heart, and focusing on generating positive emotions like gratitude, we enter a coherent inner state—opening that very doorway, and experiencing the simple, profound truth: The Light is with us."
