MYTHS & FACTS of the day:

If you have the idea or the information that 'once you get tested, and you get negative results, then you do not need to get tested again in the next few months'. This narrative can deter us all to believe we are now safe and HIV-free, whereas we should always get tested regularly. Suggesting a time frame of once every 3 months?

Through regular testing, you will know your current status on whether or not you have been infected. As we never know what can happen or has happened in this time span, even if we know what we are doing daily. Thus, it is important for us all to get tested regularly to better maintain our health, for us and those around us.

"Know the risks, Share the facts" DO IT FOR YOU. DO IT FOR THEM.
Come get tested at our three clinics: Moto'otua (Opposite the Main Hospital), Savalalo (Salote Florist building), and Savaii (Salelologa). Testing is free of charge and no need for any appointment.

~Youth Walk & Share Initiative 🚶‍♀️👟
~ Savali ma Fa’asoa🤍

On 30th May 2026, SFHA Youth Volunteers and Staff, together with community members gathered at 5am, for an Inspiring ‘Walk & Share’ Initiative from the Apia Waterfront to Mulinuu Peninsula. Together, we raised awareness on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), HIV Prevention, and the importance of creating safe spaces for open dialogue, learning, and support.

This initiative was a reminder that every step we take together strengthens our commitment to empowering young people with knowledge, breaking stigma, and promoting healthy, informed choices.

Fa’afetai tele lava to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning a success. Your voices, energy, and support continues to drive positive change in our communities.❤️

International Day of Action for Women's Health and Menstrual Hygiene Day🌺❤️

"Today and every day, we stand with every woman and girl across the Pacific. Her Health. Her Rights. Her Voice. FOR THEM"❤️

Today we mark both the International Day of Action for Women's Health and Menstrual Health Day — two reminders that women's health is not a single issue. It is interconnected, complex, and deeply personal. 💜

Sexual and Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice means that every woman, everywhere, deserves access to the health information, rights, and services she needs, free from barriers, discrimination, coercion, violence, and stigma.

That includes menstrual health. Because when a young woman cannot access safe, affordable period products, or is shamed for something completely natural, her ability to show up at school, at work, and in her community is compromised.

It also includes HIV. In the Pacific, women and girls continue to face unique vulnerabilities when it comes to HIV risk, from unequal power in relationships to the barriers many face when simply trying to negotiate condom use. When stigma silences her and fear stops her from testing, her health pays the price.

In a region where intersecting crises continue to deepen inequality and exclusion, SRHRJ is not just a global statement. It is a call to action on our doorstep.

Her menstrual health. Her sexual health. Her right to live free from HIV stigma and fear. These are not separate conversations. They are one. 🌏

Today and every day, we stand with every woman and girl across the Pacific. Her health. Her rights. Her voice. FOR THEM. ❤️

FACT OF THE DAY: You are not judged or have not done anything wrong if you are getting tested for HIV and STIs. Getting tests regularly or for the first time is an act of love and responsibility, not only for yourself but those around you.

It is a health choice that protects you and your loved ones, but not an act that lets you think and believe you are in the wrong and have committed a crime.

Key takeaway of the day is that, when you get tested you are protecting yourself and those around you. Come get tested, for your benefit of being healthy and taking away pre-conceived ideas surrounding HIV and testing.

Did you know that testing is easy, simple and quick?🤔🔎

Many people believe and are misinformed about tests and its procedures? You may think that it is painful and complicated because we use big needles and take long to receive results.

However, the fact is that HIV tests only takes about 5 minutes of your time. Testing only requires us to do simple things, such as a swab, a prick of your finger and a urine test. Hence, there are no extreme procedures or actions that would put you in danger or any complicated actions, but only simple and quick testing.

Know the facts and share them, come get tested for a healthier living. DO IT FOR YOU. DO IT FOR THEM. IPPF Sub Regional Office for the Pacific
