POV: WHY am I STARVING on my rest day when I barely did anything?!

If you’ve ever finished a big training session feeling completely fine, then woken up the next day wanting to eat EVERYTHING in sight…

This is for you.

No you haven’t suddenly lost your willpower, your body is just catching up.

During hard exercise, hormones like adrenaline and cortisol can temporarily suppress your appetite. You’re in “GO” mode, so you don’t always feel how much energy you’ve actually used.

Then you rest.

Your nervous system starts to come down, hunger signals return and your body basically sends you the bill. 😂

Recovery then requires ENERGY.

Your body is busy:
💪🏼 Repairing and rebuilding muscle
⚡ Replenishing glycogen stores
🧠 Recovering your nervous system
❤️ Supporting hormones and immune function
🔥 Replacing the energy you used during training

So if you’re hungrier on your rest day, PLEASE don’t automatically think you need to eat less because you’re not exercising. It’s actually the complete opposite - you need to eat to support recovery and to repair your body to get stronger.

Top tips for managing that hunger 👇🏼

✨ Eat proper meals. Don’t try to survive on tiny snacks.

✨ Prioritise protein at every meal to support muscle repair and keep you fuller for longer.

✨ KEEP THE CARBS. Especially if you’re running, lifting or training hard. Your body needs them to replenish glycogen.

✨ Add healthy fats, fruit and veg for extra nutrients and staying power.

✨ Hydrate. Sometimes thirst can add to that “I could eat everything” feeling.

✨ Look at your nutrition across the whole week, not whether you “earned” your food that day.

Remember…

REST DAYS ARE NOT DAYS OFF FROM RECOVERY.

They ARE recovery. Your body isn’t being greedy, it’s doing the work.

Don’t fight it. Fuel it. 💪🏼

Who can relate with this??

THE STRONGER YOU 🎾✨

Last night I had the absolute honour of being invited to sit on the women’s panel for London Padel Week , talking all things confidence, resilience, strength and what it really means to be The Stronger You.

And honestly… what a panel.

Lauren Murrell cofounder of By Sarah | Gut & Skin Health opened up so honestly about her battle with leukaemia and the challenges she’s had to overcome. Listening to Lauren share her story was genuinely life changing. A reminder that strength comes in so many different forms and sometimes it’s simply having the courage to keep going.

Padel Travel X founder Patricia Frost spoke about the importance of being unapologetically ourselves and learning to be present in the moment. Something I think so many of us need to hear, especially in a world where we’re constantly rushing onto the next thing.

And I spoke about something I’m incredibly passionate about… women making time for themselves. Physically and mentally. The importance of strength training, moving our bodies, but also knowing when to slow down, switch off and give ourselves some downtime.

The Stronger You isn’t just about being physically stronger.
It’s about confidence.
Resilience.
Self-belief.
Looking after yourself.
And having the courage to show up as YOU.

So many amazing conversations, connections and women in one room. I left feeling incredibly inspired and very grateful to have been part of it.

Thank you London Padel Week for having me. What a night.

“My kid doesn’t like sport.”

I hear this far too often.

My response is always the same…maybe they just haven’t found their sport yet.

I truly believe there is a sport for every type of child. Not every child is going to love football. Not every child wants to dance. Not every child wants to run, and that is ok.

Some will thrive in climbing.
Some in martial arts.
Some in swimming.
Some in gymnastics.
Some in padel.
Some in athletics.
Some in horse riding.
Some in skateboarding.

Our job isn’t to decide what they should love. It’s to give them the opportunity to explore until something clicks.

Here’s the thing, it doesn’t even have to become their passion. Sport isn’t just about creating elite athletes, it’s about building resilient, confident, healthy children.

It’s about learning to work with others, cope with setbacks, respect coaches, move their bodies, make friends, challenge themselves and discover what they’re capable of.

They don’t have to be the fastest.
They don’t have to win.
They don’t even have to love every minute of it.

There are different levels, different abilities and different ways to take part. Sometimes simply showing up is enough. The developmental, physical, mental and social benefits will stay with them long after the final whistle.

So if your child says they don’t like sport, don’t give up after one try. Keep exploring. The right sport could change their confidence, their friendships and their future.

What’s one sport your child surprised you by loving? 👇
