A little light, a little shadow and a nervous system hanging on by a thread. 😂🌳
Well, Ireland. That was some craic altogether. NOT!
What was meant to be a nice week tipping away at driving practice turned into an absolute circus. If something could go wrong, it did. And if it couldn’t, it gave it a bloody good go.
I PASSED MY TEST though! 🚗😂
Then Sean forgot his licence, so I flew back to Portugal with the two small humans. Delayed flights, polícia called aboard… don’t even ask.
My nervous system had packed its bags, handed in its notice and left me dealing with management. I was exhausted, living in my head and solving problems that hadn’t even happened yet.
And amongst all this fabulous personal growth, I started questioning everything. My faith, my spirituality, two years of healing and surrendering. What in the name of God had it all been for?!
Anyway, visiting a castle with friends, I felt oddly drawn to the shadows of trees on a white wall. Twice I stopped, took deep breaths, grounded myself and snapped a photo. No idea why.
Days later I looked at the pictures and spotted something rather peculiar.
Before anyone calls the Vatican 😂 there’s a scientific phenomenon called pareidolia: our brains find familiar faces and figures in random patterns. Trees, clouds, burnt toast. You know yourself. Research shows face-like patterns can even activate parts of the brain involved in recognising real faces.
And slow breathing can help calm our stress response. So my brain was doing brain things while my body was trying to get me to cop on.
But knowing the science doesn’t take away the magic.
Maybe the last two years weren’t about becoming so spiritually evolved that nothing rattles me. Maybe they’re about finding my feet when life throws the entire kitchen, never mind the sink, at me.
Now look at those shadows. What do YOU see? 👀
I see two very distinct figures. Given the week I’d had, I nearly fell off my chair laughing.
The universe has a peculiar sense of humour. Or my brain does.
Either way, I’m entertained. 😂❤️
