🌱Last week I was invited to teach a group of physios who wanted to learn more about female pelvic health.

🌱This was a wonderful engaging time discussing ways to help all women who have little to no financial resources. How to apply mindfulness to take care of their pelvic health, listening to the needs of the body and finding the Zulu descriptions of the phrases.

🌱I look forward to seeing and hearing all the wonderful projects and impact following this engaging and exciting new chapter.

🌱If there are community projects I can get involved in,please let me know.

🌸let's teach and guide as many women as possible to better pelvic health, and improve their quality of life.

🌺A wonderful space to learn and share and welcome. Thank you to those who shared their wisdom, their personal stories and the connection we made.

🌺From the arts and crafts for busy brains to gentle quiet spaces created for overstimulated nervous systems. This is a worthwhile conference if ever you wondered.

🌺Very fitting that the conference is hosted in September where every body matters.

🌺S3xual health is a human right,if you are being dismissed or misunderstood, you have not found the right person to help you.

🌺On the eve of a big birthday, this was a wonderful way to step out and step into owning my worth and recognizing that everyone has a personal struggle ,let's approach each patient with love and kindness.

Sending hugs to all you wonderful people out there, know that a community exists where you are welcomed💕

🌸Let's talk about pelvic organ prolapse

Within your pelvis lies the bladder, uterus and re**um. The pelvic floor supports these organs, along with your ligaments, to keep them in the correct position.

When these organs move from their position, some women report feeling a heaviness, pain in the lower tummy or back or feeling as it they are sitting on something. And sometimes,it feel different when being intimate.

There are different grades for a prolapse, and your trained physiotherapist would be able to assist in addressing the underlying factors that contributed to the prolapse.

Chat to your physiotherapist or find a physiotherapist that has been trained to assist.

✨️Day 3 of ICGS✨️

💜Advocacy was definitely the theme of the day. The discussion held to improve access to HPV vaccine and addressing all the challenges across Africa showed we had more in common.

💜Connecting with Colleagues and sharing our experiences when working with survivors of Gynecologic Cancer has been inspiring.

💜Thank you to those who Travellers who visited Cape Town to learn and share, this is what it is all about

💜We have so much to be grateful for. If you are a survivor, talk to your doctor about your other symptoms. You are always welcome to chat to your physio too🌱

✨️Day 2 of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society conference and Annual Global Meeting ✨️

🌱from heated debates about care management to many surgical videos, day 2 did not disappoint.
🌱there is a call for more focus on survivorship management, the life beyond the surgery, chemo and radiation

🎉My highlight of the day, show and tell. I took the pelvic model and dilators and few other items along to share how we as physiotherapists can help patient. Most Healthcare practitioners, doctors and nurses, are not always comfortable discussing s3xual function for various reasons. Women are provided with dilators and sent home in the hope that they are able to use it correctly.

🌈My hope, more women will receive the help they need to thrive now that they have survived cancer💜
