Have you ever heard someone say that occupational therapy is just “play” or “arts and crafts”?🤔❓️

That’s actually a myth‼️

Every activity we do in therapy is chosen with care and purpose🤓🫂.

It may look like play, but play is one of the most effective tools we use to help children grow and succeed. 🥇🌱🧩

Play keeps kids motivated, engaged, and excited to participate — which means they’re learning without even realizing it.📚🤩🤸‍♂️

Through fun, hands-on activities, we can support your child’s development in important areas such as:

Fine motor skills🤏🏼,
gross motor skills⚽🏃🏾‍♂️
visual perceptual skills👀🧠
sensory processing,🧠 and emotional regulation

So, while it may look like “just play,” every game, craft, or activity is carefully designed to help your child reach their full potential.🫶🏆🌱

You guessed it.... it's Tip Tuesday time again!! 👀✨

Today we’re diving into **Visual Motor Integration** — the powerful skill that helps kids *use what they see to guide how they move*! 🧠✋

Think copying from the board, forming letters correctly, cutting along lines, or catching a ball ⚽✏️📚 It’s all about the brain and hands working *together* — and it’s a BIG deal for handwriting, drawing, sports, and everyday independence! 💡

When this skill is tricky, you might notice messy handwriting, difficulty staying on the line, or frustration with tasks that seem “simple” 🤯

✨ The best part? Visual Motor Integration can be strengthened through FUN, play-based activities at home! Stay tuned for Friday’s ideas… we’ve got some exciting ones coming your way 🎉

🎉👀 FUNPLAY FRIDAY is here! 👀🎉

Let’s level up **Visual Sequential Memory** in the MOST fun way! 🧠✨
This skill helps children remember *what they see in the correct order* — think spelling words correctly, following steps, and copying from the board without getting lost 📚➡️

✨ Today’s playful activities:

🐻 **Animal Line-Up**
Create a sequence using small toys (like animals). Let your child study it 👀 then mix them up and challenge them to rebuild the *exact same order*!

🃏 **Card Copycat**
Lay out cards (or simple drawings) in a sequence. Give your child time to memorise, shuffle them, and see if they can recreate the sequence perfectly!

🎨 **Dot It Right**
Draw a sequence of coloured dots 🔴🔵🟡 Let your child memorise it, cover it up, and have them redraw it from memory. Reveal and compare!

✏️ **Memory Write (for older kids)**
Write a short word or simple sentence. Let them study it, cover it, and see if they can write it in the *correct order* from memory!

💡 These simple games build BIG skills for reading, spelling, maths, and following instructions with confidence!

⚠️ **Disclaimer**
These activities are fun ways to support visual sequential memory at home and do not replace therapy. Anelda Kruger Occupational Therapy and associated parties are not responsible for any harm caused. Please complete at your own discretion.
