Hantavirus is baie ongewoon in Suid-Afrika en huidige gevalle word steeds ondersoek. Volgens gesondheidsowerhede bly die algemene risiko vir die publiek tans laag. (SAnews)

Die virus word meestal met knaagdiere soos muise en rotte geassosieer — veral hul uriene, mis, speeksel of stof wat daarmee besmet is. Dit versprei gewoonlik nie maklik van mens tot mens nie. (NICD)

🎒 New school year… and suddenly everyone is sick?

It’s that time again — fresh stationery, new routines… and runny noses doing the rounds. 😅
With the school year just starting, kids are suddenly back together all day, sharing space, toys, desks and germs.

Here’s where little bodies pick up bugs the fastest:

👶 Daycare & preschool – shared toys + busy hands
📚 Schools – desks, doors, tablets touched nonstop
🏠 Home – siblings pass it on before you even realise
🏥 Doctor visits & clinics – more exposure than usual
🛒 Public spaces – shops, transport & restaurants

✨ The sneaky part:
Many viruses can live on surfaces for hours (even days), so toys, phones, door handles and shopping carts quickly become germ hotspots.

➋⓿➋➎ — Looking back on this year, I’m reminded that not every season teaches us loudly. Some lessons arrive in the pauses, the detours, the days where we were simply getting through.

This year taught me about strength that looks like patience, trust that grows when control is taken away, and the quiet gift of people who show up when it matters most.

As we step into a new year, may we pause long enough to understand the one we’re leaving behind — and move forward with clarity instead of pressure.
