Secrets of a Stronger Spine

MyHealth360 in collaboration with The Chiropractic Association of South Africa, brings you credible, factual information for Back Care Awareness Week.

- Fact 1: The Mechanics of Your Spine
Your spine is like the central pillar of your body. It supports you in everything you do. Imagine it as a stack of blocks - when aligned
correctly, it’s strong and steady. But poor posture, excessive sitting, and heavy lifting can throw things out of whack. That’s when problems arise.

- Credible Reference: Research shows that maintaining a neutral spine position during activities reduces the risk of back pain (Smith et al., 2020).

- Tip 1: Posture Check
Take regular posture breaks. Sit up straight, shoulders relaxed, and feet flat on the floor. It might sound simple, but it’s a game-changer for your spine.

Discover the Magic of Back Care

MyHealth360 in collaboration with The Chiropractic Association of South Africa, brings you credible, factual information for Back Care Awareness Week.

- Fact 2: Nutrition Matters
What you eat affects your spine health. Calcium and vitamin D are the spine’s best friends. They help keep your bones strong and reduce the risk of fractures and degeneration.

- Credible Reference: Studies suggest that a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D can contribute to better spine health (National Osteoporosis Foundation, 2019).

- Tip 2: Fuel Your Spine
Include dairy, leafy greens, and fortified foods in your diet. It’s not just good for your bones; it’s great for your overall health.

"Are the chiropractic techniques shown by overseas chiropractors on TikTok the same as the care provided by registered chiropractors
in South Africa?”

Short answer: No
Social media clips are just that - clips. A short, curated snippet of a treatment session. They don’t show the full clinical process:
• Comprehensive history-taking
• Orthopaedic and neurological assessment
• Clinical reasoning
• Informed consent
• Individualised treatment planning

In South Africa, chiropractors are regulated by the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa and trained at Master’s level.

Care is evidence-informed, patient-centred, and tailored to your specific needs - not designed for views or viral moments.

Remember: what you see online is a moment in time, not the full picture of professional healthcare.

Chiropractic & Disease Prevention
Musculoskeletal disorders, including chronic lower back pain, neck pain, and certain headache disorders, are among the leading causes of disability globally.

Chiropractic is a regulated allied health profession that focuses on the diagnosis, management and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly those involving the spine.

Early assessment and appropriate management of spinal dysfunction may assist in reducing the risk of chronic pain progression, improving mobility, and supporting long-term functional health. Preventative strategies may include posture education, movement advice, rehabilitation exercises, and manual therapy.

Chiropractic care is often incorporated into broader healthcare plans aimed at maintaining musculoskeletal health and reducing recurrence of mechanical pain conditions.

In South Africa, Chiropractic is regulated by the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa.

Only practitioners who hold approved qualifications and are registered with the AHPCSA may practise lawfully.
