After more than two decades of working, learning and growing in the cutting-edge field of nonsurgical medical aesthetics, I know this exciting field is ever changing and revolving. For much of my career I have focussed on enhancing the lives of patients using treatments at the forefront of aesthetic medicine, integrating art and medicine as a core principle. As a strong proponent of medical innovation, I have always had a passion for helping people feel comfortable in their skin, and I'm glad to be able to continue making progress by relying on the least invasive techniques and treatments. Eager to assist people in becoming the best versions of themselves, I took a big step forward in the early stages of my career when we opened one of the first fully-fledged aesthetic clinics in South Africa in 2003. We were later able to expand the clinic’s footprint to other parts of South Africa, basing our medical aesthetics and anti-ageing framework on a 3D facial, body and wellness model. Through my career I have learned that optimised skin treatments are the backbone of facial aesthetics, and our approach incorporates a variety of skin-enhancing procedures. I'm a firm believer in ploughing back the knowledge I have gained over the years, and I have become passionate about training the next generation of aesthetic practitioners through the independent Medskills Training Academy. Aside from being one of the founder members of the Aesthetic and Anti-Ageing Medicine Society of South Africa and the Allergan Medical institute in SA, I was a key opinion leader for the Galderma, Croma, Genop, Asino and Allergan.

Results don't happen in one sitting, they're built over time

In this video, Dr Chris walks through this client's journey so far: what's been treated up until now, and what's still to come as part of his ongoing plan.

We're holding off on showing you the results for now. Next month, we'll be sharing how far he's come, so this one's worth saving for later.

Results vary from person to person.

We put Heather in the hot seat and asked her to solve common skin and body concerns as fast as Dr Chris could name them.

From the concerns you have probably typed into Google or asked AI at midnight to the ones you have never quite known how to ask about, Heather breaks down what actually helps.

The Nefertiti Lift. Named after one of history's most celebrated faces, and once you understand what it does, it is easy to see why. 👑

This treatment uses Tox to relax the muscles running down the sides of your neck and jaw, the ones that naturally pull downward as we age. When those muscles are relaxed, the muscles that lift your face are given a chance to do their job properly again. The result is a subtle lift along the jawline and a more defined, sculpted look where your jaw meets your neck.

It is a precise treatment. Your practitioner will carefully assess your unique muscle pattern and dose conservatively, since this is an area where less is more. For patients wanting extra definition along the jawline, a few additional points can be added to enhance that sculpted effect.

If you have noticed some softening along your jawline or a loss of definition in your neck, this could be exactly what you are looking for.

Small changes, when placed in the right areas, can make the biggest difference to overall facial balance. ⚖️

This result was achieved with a combination approach, Tox, cheek filler, chin filler and lip filler, all working together rather than in isolation.

Tox was used to soften targeted areas of muscle movement, while filler restored subtle volume and definition through the cheeks and chin. The lips were then enhanced to bring everything into proportion with the rest of the face.

Your skin might be trying to tell you something about your gut.

The gut and skin communicate constantly through what is known as the gut-skin axis. When the gut microbiome is disrupted, that inflammation often surfaces on the skin as acne, redness, sensitivity or dullness, and most people never make the connection.

What disrupts it? Antibiotics, high stress and diets loaded with refined sugar all compromise the gut lining and shift the bacterial balance, often showing up on the skin faster than expected. 🦠

So what helps? A probiotic supplement supports the gut microbiome from the inside, while a collagen nucleotide supplement works on both the gut lining and skin structure at once. Add fermented foods like kefir and sauerkraut, plus more fibre, and the gut tends to respond quickly to consistent change.

The takeaway: no in-clinic treatment reaches its full potential if the internal environment is working against it. What goes in matters just as much as what goes on.

At 49 years old, skin still holds good elasticity and structure, which is exactly why early, proactive treatment can make the biggest long-term difference.

For this patient, Sculptra (PLLA) was chosen to work with his existing facial structure and specific goals, supporting his own collagen production rather than simply adding volume.

For a male patient at this age, expected benefits centre on gradual, natural-looking structural support, helping maintain definition as collagen naturally declines with age.

Follow along as we track his results over the coming months.

At this stage of life, a little proactive care goes a long way.

This patient is in his late forties, and Dr Chris Giezing is marking out exactly where PLLA treatment will be placed for his facial structure.

The approach for a male patient differs from a female patient. Structural considerations like jawline definition and bone structure play a bigger role in how treatment is planned and placed.

Watch as Dr Chris Giezing explains the reasoning behind every marked area, tailored specifically to this patient's anatomy and goals.

What actually happens when you stimulate collagen instead of just adding volume? 💉

Sculptra, or PLLA, works differently to traditional dermal fillers. Rather than filling a space, it triggers your body's own fibroblasts to produce new collagen gradually, over several weeks and months.
Collagen production naturally declines with age, but it does not stop entirely. The right stimulation can still encourage the skin to rebuild, even in a patient's seventies.

Results with PLLA build gradually and subtly. For a patient at this stage, realistic expectations mean improved skin quality and gradual structural support over time, not an overnight transformation.

Follow this patient's journey as her results continue to develop.
