To all the teachers spending their evenings and weekends marking tests…

Good luck!

While most people are relaxing, many of you are still working through piles of assessments, reports, and preparation for the next school day.

Thank you for the countless hours you invest in helping children learn, grow, and succeed. Your hard work often goes unseen, but it makes a difference every single day.

If all that marking leaves you with:
✔ Headaches
✔ Neck tension
✔ Shoulder pain
✔ Back pain

Remember to take regular breaks, stretch, and look after yourself too.

Wishing all our teachers strength, patience, and lots of coffee during marking season!

Signs include:
✅ Uneven shoulders
✅ One shoulder blade sticking out
✅ Uneven hips
✅ Clothing hanging unevenly
✅ Rib hump when bending forward

Scoliosis often develops silently; early detection is important.

Scoliosis often becomes noticeable during growth spurts.

If you notice any of these signs, consider a scoliosis assessment.

1. Keep the load light
Your child’s backpack should ideally weigh no more than 10–15% of their body weight. Heavier loads are linked to posture changes, muscle strain, and a higher risk of back pain.
2. Use both shoulder straps
Carrying a backpack on one shoulder increases spinal side-bending and muscle imbalance. Two padded straps keep the spine more upright and evenly loaded.
3. Position it high and snug
The backpack should sit high on the back, not hanging low. A snug fit keeps the load close to the spine and reduces forward-leaning posture.
4. Pack smart
Place heavier books closest to the back panel. This reduces spinal compression and shoulder strain while walking.
5. Check posture, not just weight
If your child leans forward, struggles to walk normally, or complains of shoulder/neck pain, the load is likely too heavy—even if it “looks fine.”
