Hands of Hope: 67 Fathers. 67 Babies. 67 Minutes. One Equal Tomorrow🤝🏾💫

This Mandela Day, Hamba Bamba Funda is joining hands with Heartlines to celebrate the power of fatherhood, connection and community.

We are also proud to be collaborating with the City of Joburg, Flower Foundation Retirement Homes, and Dance Spirit SA in this shared commitment to nurturing families and strengthening communities.

For 67 minutes, fathers and babies will come together in a shared circle of presence, touch and connection – a simple but powerful reminder that strong families help build stronger communities.

Everyone can be part of making a difference by supporting the families who will benefit from this initiative.

🎁 Donations Needed

We are collecting:
🥫Ingredients for Jars of Hope
👶🏾Baby clothes (0–2 years)
🍏Fresh fruit

Every donation, no matter how small, helps provide practical support and hope to families in our community.

As Nelson Mandela reminded us:
“It is in your hands to make a difference.”

If you would like to contribute any of the needed items, please contact Monja Boonzaier at: [email protected].

We have a winner!! 🏆

Huge congratulations to the residents of Pioneer House for taking home the crown in their friendly bingo competition! It was a tough battle against the fantastic teams from Waverley Gardens and Willowbrook, but Pioneer House clutched the win! 🎲✨

The game itself was packed with fun and laughs, but the absolute highlight was the beautiful sing-along they shared afterward.

Celebrating Strength, Courage and Hope

On National Cancer Survivors Day, we honour the incredible resilience of cancer survivors and recognise the families, friends, and healthcare professionals who support them every step of the way.

At Flower Foundation, we celebrate the inspiring stories of those who have faced cancer with courage and determination. Their strength reminds us of the power of hope, perseverance, and community.

Today, we stand with all cancer survivors and applaud their journeys of healing and triumph.

When we think about the challenges of growing older, physical health is often the first thing that comes to mind. But if you ask those who have walked a long path, they will often tell you that the hardest part of aging isn't always illness, it’s the transitions.

It’s the quiet shift of watching the world change pace around you, seeing familiar neighborhoods evolve, and navigating the bittersweet reality of outliving peers or changing roles within a family. It’s the deep longing to be seen not just for the years on the outside, but for the vibrant, experienced individual who still resides completely on the inside.

Aging brings incredible resilience, but it also requires immense grace as we adapt to a changing world.

To our community members, families, and friends: What has been the most surprising or meaningful lesson you’ve learned through the journey of aging? Let’s share some wisdom and support in the comments below.

Today, Pioneer House residents enjoyed a wonderful Tea Day filled with laughter, music, and delicious treats.

We began the morning with a cheerful sing-along, bringing everyone together through the joy of music. Residents then had the opportunity to sample a variety of teas, exploring different flavors and finding new favorites. The highlight of the day was creating our very own refreshing iced tea!

To make the occasion even sweeter, everyone enjoyed a slice of rich chocolate cake while sharing stories and good conversation.
