What a wonderful day of community engagement and learning.

Schweizer-Reneke District Hospital successfully hosted its Hospital Open Day on 16 October 2026, bringing together healthcare professionals, community members and stakeholders such as Board Members to learn more about the services available at the hospital and the importance of accessible, quality healthcare.

The day provided an opportunity to engage with the community, share valuable health information and strengthen collaboration towards a healthier community.

Nutrition Week interview at Bodumedi FM

As part of the observance of Nutrition Week, the Schweizer-Reneke District Hospital Dietetics Department participated in a radio interview on Bodumedi FM on 14 October 2026, aimed at educating the community about the importance of healthy nutrition and making informed food choices.

The interview featured Dietitian Samantha Mokitlane and Nutritionist Sina Molepo, who shared valuable information with listeners on the role of nutrition in maintaining good health and preventing diet-related diseases.

During the interview, the speakers highlighted the importance of following a balanced diet that includes a variety of foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and healthy sources of protein. They also encouraged community members to reduce their intake of foods high in salt, sugar and unhealthy fats.

The Dietitian and Nutritionist further explained that good nutrition is important at every stage of life, from childhood through adulthood and older age. Proper nutrition contributes to healthy growth and development, strengthens the immune system and supports overall physical and mental well-being.

Listeners were also encouraged to make healthier choices within their available resources and to seek professional advice when dealing with specific nutritional needs or health condition
