GP Cardiology Education Evening
Recently, Heart & Vascular hosted a Cardiology Education Evening for General Practice, bringing together local GPs and healthcare professionals for discussion, learning and clinical updates.

The evening included presentations from A/Prof Majo Joseph and Dr Dylan Jones, covering:
• Calcium Scoring and Risk Assessment
• Updates in Valvular Heart Disease

Dr James Gunton and Dr Cameron Bridgman chaired the evening, providing valuable insights and facilitating discussion around cardiac related questions from attending medical professionals.

The session provided an opportunity for meaningful discussion around cardiovascular risk assessment, valvular heart disease and coordinated care between GPs and cardiology specialists.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion.

At Heart & Vascular, we value ongoing education and strong collaboration with referring GPs across metropolitan and regional South Australia.

Supporting Patients in the Upper South East and Victoria’s West Wimmera
Access to specialist cardiac care close to home can make a meaningful difference for patients living in regional communities.

Heart & Vascular is proud to support patients across the Upper South East of South Australia and Victoria’s West Wimmera through our consulting clinics in Naracoorte and Bordertown, helping improve access to specialist cardiovascular care closer to where people live and work.

Our Naracoorte clinic offers cardiology consultations, echocardiography and Holter monitoring services, while our Bordertown clinic provides specialist cardiology consultations and ongoing patient reviews.

Through these clinics, we support not only Naracoorte and Bordertown, but also a much broader regional community, including patients who travel from surrounding South Australian areas and across the Victorian border to access care.

Supporting these communities are Dr Andrew Markwick, Dr Ranjit Shah and Dr Ivaylo Tonchev, who work closely with local GPs and healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive cardiovascular care and ongoing management for patients across the region.

We remain committed to supporting regional South Australia and Victoria through our network of outreach and consulting clinics.

Heart Health Starts with Everyday Choices
July awareness initiatives such as Dry July can be a good reminder to reflect on the everyday lifestyle choices that support long term health and wellbeing.

Many factors can influence cardiovascular health, including physical activity, diet, sleep, stress management and alcohol consumption.

Small, sustainable lifestyle changes can have a positive impact on overall wellbeing and may help support healthy blood pressure and long term heart health.

Whether it’s reviewing alcohol intake, moving more, prioritising rest or making time for regular health checks, simple steps can make a meaningful difference over time.

If you have concerns about your heart health, speaking with your GP is the first step.
