๐ช Getting back into push-ups after a break? Start with a box push-up. No need to hit the floor and suffer straight away.
What's a box push-up?
Hands on a raised surface โ gym box, bench, step, or kitchen counter if you're feeling rebellious. Same straight body position as a regular push-up, but the angle means you're lifting less of your bodyweight. Your arms and chest ease back in without immediately filing a complaint.
The progression:
๐ฒ Box push-up โ hands elevated, core engaged, body in a straight line. Lower your chest to the surface, push back up. Controlled, no rush.
๐ Lower the height โ as it gets easier, drop the surface. Bench โ low step โ floor.
โ
Full push-up โ hands on the ground, same mechanics. Suddenly you're doing the real thing, and your body actually remembers how.
The goal isn't to suffer your way to strength. It's to convince your muscles that push-ups aren't a hostile takeover.
Consistency wins. Ego does not lift well here. ๐
