Bannockburn Bush parkrun event #385, 30th May 2026
Back to the big numbers again with 110 parkrunners showing up for what turned out to be perfect weather for a stroll, jog or run in the bush. Despite some ‘chonkiness’ through the middle section, the course was packed down making it super-fast for the whopping 19 PBs that were achieved. Congrats to Steve, Ollie cracking the 18 minute barrier, Jackson smashing his 20 minute goal, Sam, Meaghan, Kate, Ned, Phil, Leanne, Jo, David, Lachlan, Kyelin, Ollie, Lachlan and Leisha.
We had some special milestones today, with brother and sister duo Tori and Levi reaching 25 parkruns. Both have completed 20 of their runs at Bannockburn and have volunteered as photographer, marshal, barcode scanner and tail walker showing age is no barrier to helping out. Globally, an exciting parkrun milestone was reached this weekend. Darren Wood was the first person to complete 1000 parkruns, alongside volunteering more than 400 times. So keep at it, it only takes 20 years of parkrunning nearly every weekend to earn that yellow 1000 T-shirt!
Thanks as always to our volunteer team that makes it all happen – Marissa, Lenny, Addie, Elliott, Paige, Caz, Sandra, Paul, Julie and Rob. The main entrance should be back open next weekend – but watch out for the mud!
Welcome also to the 15 people who participated at Bannockburn Bush for the first time. We had visitors from far and wide, ranging from Geelong, You Yangs, Winchelsea all the way out to New Zealand and England. We hope you loved our course as much as we do. Hopefully we’ll have more visitors check out our course next weekend for the King’s Birthday long weekend. See you all then!
