Why tight traps arenāt just a ātraps problemā
Ever get that knot at the top of your shoulder... and then notice your neckās stiff, your headaches are more frequent, or even your lower back feels off?
Thatās not a coincidence.
Your traps donāt work in isolation - theyāre part of a chain that connects through your neck, shoulders, and upper back. When theyāre overloaded (hello, desk work and stress-carrying), the tightness rarely stays put. It can:
ā”ļø Pull on the neck, limiting rotation and causing stiffness
ā”ļø Contribute to tension headaches
ā”ļø Throw off shoulder blade positioning, affecting how your whole shoulder moves
ā”ļø Compensate for weakness lower down the kinetic chain (think: poor core or glute activation)
This is why a physio wonāt just massage the sore spot. We look at the whole pattern: posture, movement, load, even how youāre breathing to find out *why* the traps are picking up the slack in the first place.
Tight traps are often the messenger, not the problem. š¬
